Responsibilities
  • Ensure best practices are followed in implementing simulation-based learning.
  • Serve as an accessible resource and support person for faculty integrating simulation-based learning strategies into curricula.
  • Provide focused support to faculty from assigned academic programs or external entities.
  • Facilitate simulation scenarios for learners, including debriefing.
  • Use TeamSTEPPS tools and strategies to enhance team performance and communication.
  • Participate in or lead educational sessions within the Health Sciences Simulation Center for community and youth groups.
  • Observe faculty leading simulation-based learning activities to ensure evidence-based standards are met.
  • Mentor and coach faculty during simulation-based learning activities by providing feedback and suggestions for improvement.
  • Mentor faculty in effective debriefing practices that promote reflective learning.
  • Collaborate with the Simulation Technology Specialist on technical support, simulation plans, and session setup.
  • Use Educational Management Solutions audiovisual and database management systems.
  • Advise faculty on simulation-based learning design and delivery.
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop and implement simulation-based learning activities in curricula.
  • Use evidence-based methods and simulation-based learning theories to design, implement, and evaluate simulation curricula, including debriefing and assessment.
  • Facilitate university-wide interprofessional education activities and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop or use assessment tools to evaluate learner competency.
  • Maintain the library of scenarios used in programs under designated oversight.
  • Develop longitudinal simulation-based learning curricula across academic programs.
  • Demonstrate Society for Simulation in Healthcare best practices for Certification in Healthcare Simulation Education.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement of Health Sciences Simulation Center services by reviewing curricular documents, learning objectives, and potential simulation activities with faculty.
  • Design, develop, implement, evaluate, and study faculty development activities in simulation-based learning and other immersive learning approaches.
  • Maintain awareness of current trends in teaching and learning, focusing on simulation and immersive learning modalities for healthcare professional education.
  • Complete critical analyses of academic, lay, vendor, and marketing literature to support Health Sciences Simulation Center decisions.
  • Engage in scholarly work according to university guidelines and Institutional Review Board policies for human subjects research.
  • Collaborate with Health Sciences Simulation Center colleagues and faculty on research efforts while following ethical and legal requirements.
  • Disseminate research findings through professional conferences or publication.
  • Negotiate faculty workload hours for individual scholarly endeavors with the Health Sciences Simulation Center Director.
Desired Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2–3 years of experience in simulation-based teaching and learning is preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications relevant to simulator functions is preferred.
