- At least 8 years of drafting or design experience in the construction industry, or equivalent experience gained through school projects.
- At least 8 years of knowledge of construction methods and techniques, drawings and specifications, building materials, and standards applicable to the discipline.
- At least 8 years of experience drafting a variety of HVAC, duct, pipe, or plumbing systems.
- Proficient understanding of Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk Fabrication, or Navisworks.
- Work collaboratively with team members and use digital information tools to assist the Associate Architect in facilitating an efficient design process, coordinating multidisciplinary challenges, and enhancing design outcomes.
- Produce detailed constructible design drawings for complex design projects using BIM and other tools, typically up to Level of Development 400.
- Develop digital representations of the physical and functional characteristics of buildings or facilities.
- Manage collision detection across multiple disciplines.
- Lead modeling efforts for production of walkthrough videos.
- Develop BIM technology expertise to optimize designs for client requirements at appropriate Levels of Development.
- Develop 3D BIM models up to Level of Development 400, or as needed, for handover to construction and fabrication teams.
- Coordinate with BIM/VDC teams to facilitate information flow and set up models for project delivery.
- Use 4D and 5D functionality to analyze construction sequences and techniques and optimize cost and schedule.
- Prepare BIM models for use in fluid-flow analysis, energy modeling, and other software.
- Coordinate integration with software including Autodesk, Bentley, and SketchUp to facilitate design understanding.
- Interpret the BIM Execution Plan for the project team.
- Lead drawing setup for the project team.
- Ensure other drafters on the project team have the necessary setup and processes available.
- Contribute to the Design Studio's development of Revit and VDC processes.
- Initiate advanced use of BIM and VDC tools.
- Generate 3D models of piping, plumbing, and/or ductwork systems in compliance with building codes, construction standards, contract documents, and project leadership instructions.
- Route piping, plumbing, and/or ductwork systems.
- Show all components and systems.
- Lead efforts to overlay piping, plumbing, and/or ductwork systems with other trades.
- Manage rerouting of piping, plumbing, and/or ductwork as required.
- Produce sign-off record drawings.
- Manage project models for assigned projects.
- Perform other assigned duties and tasks.
- Contribute to the organization's safety and work culture.

Harris expands into Colorado through multiple strategic acquisitions. June 2, 2026 Harris has expanded its national footprint into Colorado through the acquisition of three companies serving the region's mechanical systems, controls and building automation markets. The move establishes a strong operating base for Harris in Colorado and significantly broadens the company's presence across the Mountain West. The expansion began with the acquisition of Colorado-based temperature controls company D.R. Associates (DRA), effective May 4. Founded in Denver more than 20 years ago, DRA has built a strong reputation for delivering dependable temperature control solutions tailored to the needs of Colorado businesses. The company serves customers across industries including healthcare, manufacturing and commercial facilities. Effective June 1, Harris also acquired Climate Engineering (CEI) and Centennial Controls (CCI). CEI and CCI bring complementary expertise in mechanical systems, HVAC solutions and building automation throughout Colorado. Together, the companies have supported a wide range of commercial and industrial projects across the region, helping customers improve building performance, visibility and operational efficiency through advanced mechanical and controls solutions. Their strong technical capabilities, customer-focused approach and deep local relationships further strengthen Harris' ability to serve customers across Colorado.
