Requirements
  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree is required.
  • Eligibility for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Wisconsin is required by the start date.
  • American College of Veterinary Ophthalmology board certification or board eligibility after completion of residency training in ophthalmology is required at the time of appointment.
  • European College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists diplomate status or board eligibility at the time of appointment will be considered.
  • Applicants must submit a CV, cover letter, and the names and contact information for three professional references.
Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical care to veterinary patients within the UW Veterinary Care hospital.
  • Advance scholarship in ophthalmology and vision science.
  • Support student and house officer education.
  • Participate in clinical service, classroom, laboratory, and clinical teaching, research, and service.
  • Participate in emergency and after-hours clinic duty, didactic and laboratory teaching of veterinary students, house officer training, and service to the department and school.
  • Lead resident-based or student-based rounds for approximately 3–5 hours per week.
  • Conduct student case-based rounds in conjunction with residents when assigned to clinic duties.
  • For tenure-track appointments, demonstrate excellence and impact through basic, translational, and/or clinical research that advances the field.
  • Provide excellent clinical service.
  • Participate in approximately 40–50% clinical responsibilities, 10–20% non-clinical teaching, 20–30% research, and up to 10% service.
