Position Purpose
The primary function of the DevOps Team is to facilitate the smooth operation of the entire engineering organization, by providing infrastructure and process solutions to enable other teams to move quickly and confidently. This role will be to provide solutions directly, and build a team to continue to provide reliable support as the organization grows.
Role & Responsibility
- Maintain and support our AWS services and Kubernetes clusters, providing assistance and training to other engineering teams in deploying their projects
- Maintain and improve our CI/CD pipelines for various code repositories
- Leverage tools like Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, and Nagios to monitor systems and to allow development teams to monitor their services
- Audit existing security protocols and propose improvements
- Build DevOps knowledge/expertise from external sources and members of the team
- Strike a balance between pragmatic, timely short-term solutions and technical debt avoidance
- Foster a healthy agile development environment both inside and outside the team
- Use an Infrastructure as Code approach to provisioning resources, using Terraform
- Prefer automated solutions over manual workflows (autoscaling, auto deployment, etc)
Education/Experience
- 4-5 years in DevOps or Infrastructure engineering, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering and 2-3 years of experience
- BS/BA in software engineering preferred but not required
- Formal Certifications will be considered but are not required
- AWS administration and maintenance, most importantly with IAM, EC2, MKS, Redshift, S3
- Docker / Kubernetes (experience with Helm and/or Lens desired)
- Github Actions
- Terraform
- Useful but not essential: Rundeck, Jenkins
