Robotic systems for large-scale, individualized drug manufacturing

- Working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical engineering or related field
- Experience with 3D CAD software, including modeling of complex assemblies and creation of detailed drawings
- Working knowledge of common fabrication methods of metal and plastics parts, and finishing operations
- Knowledge of actuation systems, i.e., motors, gear, bearing selection, sensors commonly used in an automation environment
- Ability to safely and effectively use hand tools, power tools, rapid prototyping equipment, basic machine shop equipment, and precision measurement tools
- A self-starter comfortable working in a fast paced, technically challenging startup company environment
- Very organized, and detail oriented
- Able to handle multiple project and task assignments simultaneously
- Able to clearly express your ideas and design details in meetings, team presentations, white board brainstorming sessions, and in various technical documentation
- Collaborate on the design, development, and testing of complex electromechanical systems, instruments and robot's subassemblies
- Ideate, implement and demonstrate innovative solutions for solving problems through rapid prototyping, testing and iterations
- Interface with multiple teams in solving complex and sometimes ambiguous problems, understand and quantify trade-offs with requirements, propose innovative ideas and collaborate with other teams
- Define test protocols through the development process from concept phase to design verification and validation, implement testing, document and communicate test results
- Experience working on Medical/Bio-tech devices or an FDA regulated industry
- Some experience with programming languages, like python, and Linux OS
- Experience with FEA and simulation tools like Matlab, Simulink
- Experience operating machine shop equipment to fabricate high precision parts
- Experience sizing motors, gears and bearing in actuated systems
- Some experience selecting sensors commonly used in motion control systems
- Experience designing injection molded parts, qualifying mold tooling, and selecting plastic resins
- Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5-2009 GD&T standard
- Mechanical design experience taking innovative solutions to a production environment, with a design that is both robust and functionally refined
