Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required, although relevant experience may substitute for the degree when the specified experience requirements are met.
  • Proficiency with Terra Dotta software is required.
  • Experience studying, living, or working abroad is required.
  • Experience with education abroad and/or academic advising is required.
  • Familiarity with developing and implementing marketing plans across multiple platforms is required.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, is required.
  • Proficient interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are required.
  • Proficient problem-solving, organizational, multitasking, and attention-to-detail skills are required.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and within groups is required.
  • All candidates must have valid U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and maintain it throughout employment.
  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends is required.
Responsibilities
  • Recruit and advise students from assigned colleges throughout the study abroad process, including program opportunities, requirements, acceptance decisions, financial aid, scholarships, credit transfer, and related topics.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of university policies pertaining to academic programs abroad and respond to inquiries from students, parents, faculty, and others, making referrals as appropriate.
  • Advise students on the Benjamin A. Gilman, Boren, Critical Language Scholarship, Study Abroad scholarships, and other scholarship opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate applicant data, run reports, and manage website information through the Terra Dotta application site.
  • Maintain relationships with academic and administrative departments, overseas partners, and program providers, and act as a liaison between providers and students.
  • Develop and execute marketing and recruitment plans, including education abroad fairs, information sessions, pre-departure orientations, and re-entry sessions.
  • Facilitate pre-departure orientations for faculty-led and semester-long students in collaboration with team members.
  • Identify special projects and work with the Director of Study Abroad to further the goals of the Study Abroad Office.
  • Ensure program quality and continual self-development through self-directed learning, professional development, and appropriate site visits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
