Requirements
  • A current Registered Nurse license issued by the state Board of Nursing is required, along with demonstrated managerial and administrative ability.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience is required.
  • The ability to organize and plan programs and assign personnel to provide nursing services for residents is required.
  • The ability to evaluate reports, programs, and other data against judgmental and verifiable criteria is required.
Responsibilities
  • Assume responsibility for the center in the absence of the Administrator.
  • Implement policies and procedures, follow up with and supervise staff to ensure compliance, coordinate with the Medical Director, Health Department, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and recommend policy or procedure changes to the regional office as needed.
  • Assist in preparing the department budget and administer the approved budget.
  • Recruit, select, coach, discipline, and terminate Nursing Department employees; ensure employees are scheduled; develop efficient work functions; and conduct timely performance evaluations for nursing professionals.
  • Analyze and evaluate nursing and related services to improve resident-care quality and better utilize staff time and activities.
  • Ensure positive resident outcomes; develop systems and work schedules that respect residents' lifestyles and help them reach the highest attainable level of functioning; make rounds at least daily; and follow up daily on each shift to ensure changes in status are reported and recorded.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in the long-term care profession or working with the geriatric population is preferred.
