Requirements
  • A high school education with five years of experience and knowledge of electrical equipment, circuits, and electronic components related to alarm systems.
  • NICET Certification Level I, or the ability to obtain Level I Certification within six months of hire and maintain the certification.
  • NICET Certification Level II, or the ability to obtain Level II Certification within two years of hire and maintain the certification.
  • Familiarity with various types of sprinkler systems.
  • Basic mathematical functions are required.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
  • Current U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Availability to work any shift, with shift determination based on work priorities when cleared to report.
  • Personal protective equipment must be worn in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
Responsibilities
  • Run wires, mount sensors and detectors, install control panels, and ensure all components are properly connected and placed according to blueprints.
  • Configure and program fire alarm panels and systems to meet specific building requirements.
  • Use specialized equipment to test system functionality and identify issues.
  • Conduct routine checks and test smoke detectors, sirens, control panels, and other system components.
  • Diagnose malfunctions, troubleshoot system issues, and perform necessary repairs to keep systems operational.
  • Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning devices and replacing batteries.
  • Respond to emergency service calls to troubleshoot and fix alarms and system issues.
  • Isolate suppression systems for outages.
  • Use hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
  • Inspect, test, and maintain suppression systems in accordance with UFC 3-601-2.
  • Operate government motor vehicles and other equipment.
  • Ensure all work adheres to federal, state, and local fire safety codes, including National Fire Protection Association standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of installations, inspections, and repairs.
Desired Qualifications
  • An active secret security clearance.
  • NICET Certification Level III.
