Requirements
  • Be a qualified solicitor or lawyer with 3–5 years of post-qualification experience from private practice or in-house.
  • Demonstrated experience independently managing commercial contract negotiations and advising stakeholders on legal and commercial risk.
  • Have strong drafting and negotiation skills across NDAs, enterprise subscription agreements, SaaS terms, technology contracts, procurement contracts, data processing agreements, and professional services agreements.
  • Have working knowledge of GDPR and data protection principles, with the ability to support practical compliance reviews.
  • Balance legal risk with commercial objectives and deliver pragmatic, timely advice.
  • Build productive working relationships across departments and communicate directly, clearly, and collegiately with stakeholders at different levels of the organisation.
  • Manage a high volume of varied matters independently while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Operate autonomously in a fast-paced, evolving environment where priorities may shift and information may be incomplete.
  • Identify needed information, obtain it from appropriate sources, connect with relevant people, and move matters forward without detailed instructions or close day-to-day direction.
  • Work within scalable processes and playbooks while applying judgment and adapting the approach when circumstances require it.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Apply sound commercial judgment and a practical approach to risk management.
  • Work directly with stakeholders across multiple organisational levels.
  • Organise work effectively and manage competing priorities without losing quality or pace.
Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including NDAs, vendor and procurement contracts, data processing agreements, professional services agreements, and statements of work.
  • Independently manage routine and mid-complexity contract negotiations by gathering context, developing practical positions, and escalating novel or high-risk issues with analysis and recommendations.
  • Help internal stakeholders understand contractual obligations and risk exposure in clear, practical, commercially relevant terms.
  • Maintain and improve contract templates, playbooks, negotiation guidance, the contract repository, and standard fallback positions.
  • Review and negotiate partner, reseller, and subcontractor agreements.
  • Support Sales and the wider commercial team on enterprise deal execution, including customer-proposed terms, redlines to standard agreements, and complex or high-value negotiations.
  • Provide legal input on requests for proposal and bid responses, including customer-proposed contractual requirements and legal questionnaires.
  • Advise Sales and Customer Success on customer contractual queries, non-standard commercial requests, and escalated enterprise-account issues.
  • Act as a legal partner to Sales and business teams across EMEA by providing commercial advice while managing risk.
  • Help manage legal intake, triage, and prioritisation across EMEA.
  • Partner with business owners to facilitate efficient and compliant deal execution and help stakeholders understand available options and recommended paths forward.
  • Support customer escalations involving legal and contractual issues with risk-based guidance.
  • Review and negotiate data processing agreements and data protection terms across commercial relationships.
  • Support routine privacy and data protection enquiries, including GDPR compliance queries.
  • Assist with compliance initiatives, including data subject requests and privacy reviews of new products or features.
  • Support intragroup data transfer reviews and maintain data protection documentation.
  • Contribute to scalable legal processes, self-service tools, and knowledge-management resources.
  • Support contract-management workflows, including intake, execution tracking, and template maintenance.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline legal workflows and improve the stakeholder experience.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in a SaaS, technology, high-growth commercial, or in-house legal environment is desirable but not essential.

CallRail has expanded its partnership with Clio, integrating its Voice Assist AI tool with Clio Grow and Clio Manage platforms. The integration enables law firms to handle inbound calls and texts 24/7 using AI that can recognise existing clients, qualify new leads, and book consultations automatically. Voice Assist pulls client information from Clio to personalise interactions, greeting returning callers by name and skipping previously answered intake questions. For new callers, it runs standard intake procedures and creates contacts in Clio with full marketing attribution. The system schedules consultations directly into Clio Manage without requiring human intervention, including after-hours calls. CallRail serves more than 225,000 businesses worldwide. The integration is now available to law firms.

Clio acquires Jurisage to fuel AI expansion with Canada's largest legal database

Burnaby, BC-based Clio has acquired Toronto legaltech firm Jurisage to bolster its AI capabilities in Canada. The deal gives Clio access to one of Canada's most comprehensive AI-ready legal datasets, covering over 470,000 cases across more than 40 courts. Jurisage's 10-person team is joining Clio, which recently surpassed $500 million USD in annual recurring revenue and holds a $5-billion valuation. Financial terms were not disclosed. The acquisition addresses gaps in Clio's Canadian legal database following its $1-billion USD purchase of vLex in 2025, which offered limited Canadian coverage. A recent Clio report found that 95 per cent of Canadian lawyers are using AI in their work. The move comes as foreign competitors like Harvey and Legora expand into the Canadian market.

Clio hits $500M ARR as Anthropic enters legal AI battleground

Clio, a Canadian law firm management software company, has reached $500 million in annual recurring revenue, driven by AI integration. The 18-year-old company surpassed $200 million ARR in mid-2024 and doubled that figure by late last year. CEO Jack Newton argues legal tech is poised to become a major AI winner, citing the wealth of contracts and agreements that provide training data for large language models.
