Summary of Role:
SunPower’s mission is to change the way the world is powered. Solar energy is one of the fastest-growing industries in the US. Not only is going solar beneficial for the planet; for most Americans it also saves money vs. buying power from the utility. Studies show that the #1 barrier to solar adoption is concern over how to pay for initial installation. The mission of the Financial Products team is to remove that barrier by making it cheap and easy for customers to go solar. This is a “ground floor” opportunity, and the ideal candidate is a true builder. Raising the bar for customer experience in Financial Products is core to SunPower’s strategy, and this role will play a critical role in driving future growth.
Reporting to the VP, General Manager of TPO at SunPower Financial, the role will own various aspects of world-class Third Party Owned (TPO) financial products including: development of product features, market expansion, incentive management including developing and executing strategies relating to incentives from the Inflation Reduction Act (“IRA”). We serve four main customer types – consumers, dealers, home builders, and investors – each with its own unique financial needs. The role includes aspects relating to customer acquisition, financial product strategy and pricing, and process development and enhancement.
The ideal candidate is well versed in solar and consumer lending, with a history of working within fast- paced, high-impact teams solving complex problems. Key to success in this position is an equal passion for problem solving, delivering creative product solutions and executing processes at the highest level of quality, ensuring that our customers have a world-class experience. The ideal candidate will be an independent and curious thinker who can shape convincing, information-based arguments and will never stop learning about their customers’ subject matter and areas of complexity. This role will deliver business impact through a variety of key metrics, including market expansion opportunities, incentive harvesting, funnel expansion, customer satisfaction driven by enhancements in customer experience and customer savings.
This role has senior leadership visibility, with extraordinary scope and potential for immediate impact. You are strong at execution, able to collaborate with other teams including: sales, engineering, legal, and finance colleagues to deliver a delightful, cohesive, and scalable experience. Excellent listening, writing skills and very strong judgement are essential.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in product management or general management in a software-driven, consumer-facing business.
- An entrepreneurial spirit who wants to change the world and naturally prefers to move fast.
- Superior analytical abilities with the technical prowess to seek out, digest and extract insights for large data sets
- Strong project planning/execution skills including estimating, scheduling, and executing on tight deadlines. Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate a vision for your projects to work toward best-in-class solutions for our customers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strategic thinker who will actively contribute as a member of SunPower Financial’s team, including developing and executing strategy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters or MBA degree
- Experience in digital lending, payments, or other fintech businesses.
- Experience in US renewable energy and familiarity with utilities rate tariffs, incentive structures and consumer finance products
- An understanding of modern software build processes.
- Ability to dive deep and find gaps that need to be addressed; and effectively identify, communicate and recommend the best available solution to implement.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Dependent on the position offered, other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package including annual bonus eligibility, short and long-term incentives, and a comprehensive and competitive benefits program which includes health insurance coverage, employee wellness, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays, paid time off, and so much more.
