Requirements
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, physics, or RF engineering
  • Experience designing, simulating, and testing vacuum electron devices
  • PhD in electrical engineering, RF engineering or physics with a focus on RF, microwave and electromagnetics
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, communicate effectively, and work both independently and within a team
  • Vacuum electron devices including traveling wave tubes, klystrons, gyrotrons, or magnetrons
  • Electrostatics and magnetostatics design problems
  • Waveguide components at RF, microwave, or millimeter-wave such as resonant cavity filters, directional couplers, power combiners, diplexers
  • Linear or non-linear RF components - power amplifiers, low-noise amplifiers, mixers, filters, and PLLs
  • Electromagnetic/RF or particle simulation tools like CST, HFSS, LORENTZ, MICHELLE
  • RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, vector signal analyzers, vector signal generator, vector network analyzers
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends if/as needed

Responsibilities
  • Develop millimeter-wave traveling wave tube amplifier (TWTA) covering every aspect from component to system level - electron gun, slow-wave structure, magnetic confinement circuit, collector
  • Use simulation tools to accelerate hardware development
  • Assist in development of test equipment to characterize development hardware and screen production hardware
  • Achieve great systems solutions through collaboration with engineers owning high-voltage power supply, waveguide networks, modem, antennas, and software
  • Collaborate with production engineers to bring your designs into production
