Your New Role
As a permanent full-time Accountant 1, you will provide department-wide revenue reconciliations for the multiple accounts the agency has at Treasury and Union Bank. You are responsible for maintaining financial systems controls through the administration of systems security access, and Agency SPOTS Card Coordinator. This position resides in the Financial Services Section that is responsible for the Department’s fiscal management and budget administration.

This position has the potential for hybrid-remote work; however, travel expenses to Salem for required in-person duties are not reimbursed, and out-of-state remote work may be approved on a case-by-case basis.

Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Government Financial Manager certificate;
OR
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting;
OR
A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline that includes or is supplemented by 32 quarter (21 semester) credit hours in accounting from an accredited institution;
OR
32 quarter (21 semester) credit hours in Accounting from an accredited institution AND two years of technical, para- professional accounting experience to include: a) classifying, analyzing, and reconciling financial data and records; b) designing, recommending, and installing modifications of accounting methods, procedures, forms, and records; c) preparing financial statements and reports; d) analyzing and interpreting laws, regulations, codes, and ordinances to ensure the legality of financial transactions; and e) analyzing, interpreting, and making recommendations related to accounting transactions, accounts and account relationships resulting in accounting entries.
Special Requirements:
To be hired, a criminal record and driving record check must be completed that meets OPRD Criteria at the time of hire, and throughout employment while also maintaining a valid driver’s license.
Desired Attributes:

Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, and reporting, including billing procedures and internal controls.
Strong attention to detail and ability to reconcile complex data.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with stakeholders and large diverse audiences, ensuring professional grammar and spelling.
Experience with financial statements and reports, query skills and financial systems.
Experience pulling data and reporting from a data warehouse with tools like OBIEE, Excel or Access.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
Team player with problem-solving skills, leveraging research, analyzing data and using digital tools and programs.
Experience with processes, policies, and procedures within an accounting unit.
Preference for candidates with governmental accounting experience.
