Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in business, engineering, national security, international relations, or another applicable field.
  • Two to three years of relevant experience in business development, capture management, program management, military operations, government acquisition, or the defense industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, qualify, and advance business opportunities within a defense or government-contracting environment.
  • Working knowledge of Department of Defense acquisition, budgeting, procurement, and industry pursuit processes.
  • Ability to understand customer missions, operational requirements, acquisition priorities, and technology needs and translate them into actionable business strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with government customers, military leaders, acquisition organizations, industry partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional teams involved in business development, capture, proposals, programs, or solution development.
  • Ability to analyze customer requirements, market conditions, competitive intelligence, program budgets, and acquisition documents.
  • Ability to develop business cases, customer engagement plans, opportunity assessments, executive briefings, and value propositions.
  • Strong strategic thinking, business judgment, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, partners, technical teams, and senior leaders.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute business development plans within an assigned customer, mission, market, or capability portfolio.
  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify new business opportunities aligned with CAE's strategic growth objectives and portfolio capabilities.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with government customers, military leaders, acquisition organizations, industry partners, and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop customer engagement plans, stakeholder maps, opportunity assessments, and action plans to position CAE for future business opportunities.
  • Maintain a working understanding of customer missions, requirements, acquisition priorities, budgets, technology needs, and procurement timelines.
  • Monitor defense policies, program funding, budget activity, acquisition strategies, and customer requirements that may affect current or future opportunities.
  • Collect and analyze market and competitive intelligence to assess customer needs, competitor positioning, potential partners, and CAE's probability of success.
  • Translate customer priorities and operational needs into actionable growth strategies, value propositions, and potential solutions.
  • Collaborate with program, engineering, training services, strategy, finance, contracts, legal, marketing, capture, and proposal teams to develop responsive and differentiated solutions.
  • Prepare business cases, opportunity briefings, customer assessments, pipeline updates, and recommendations for business leadership.
  • Support opportunity gate reviews by providing customer, market, budget, competitive, and positioning information for pursuit decisions.
  • Coordinate with Capture Management to transition qualified opportunities from business development into the formal capture process.
  • Support capture and proposal activities by providing customer insight, competitive intelligence, partner information, solution context, and reviews of proposal content.
  • Participate in color-team and other proposal reviews to evaluate customer alignment, competitive positioning, proposal compliance, and the strength of CAE's value proposition.
  • Identify and develop potential teaming, partnership, and industry relationships that strengthen CAE's competitive position.
  • Coordinate and support customer demonstrations, technical exchanges, oral presentations, industry engagements, and capability briefings.
  • Represent CAE at customer meetings, industry days, trade shows, conferences, exercises, and other business development events.
  • Maintain accurate opportunity, customer engagement, and pipeline information within CAE's designated business development systems.
  • Track progress against assigned growth objectives and communicate opportunity status, risks, resource needs, and recommended actions to leadership.
  • Ensure all business development activities comply with company policies, security requirements, ethical standards, export-control regulations, and applicable government contracting requirements.
  • Comply with company security and data protection and usage policies and procedures, including proper marking and handling of information and materials and need-to-know access controls.
  • Work in an office environment and manufacturing facility, including overtime, on-call coverage, and changing shifts or schedules as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with U.S. Space Force missions, operational priorities, acquisition organizations, and training requirements.
  • Familiarity with Space Systems Command, Space Training and Readiness Command, field commands, deltas, and relevant acquisition and operational units.
  • Understanding of space-domain awareness, missile warning, satellite command and control, cyber operations, electronic warfare, and contested-space operations.
  • Experience with space training, simulation, mission rehearsal, digital engineering, or synthetic operational environments.

CAE reports Q1 revenue of $1.17B, up 6.8% year-over-year, maintains fiscal 2027 outlook

CAE reported first quarter fiscal 2027 results with revenue of $1,173.4 million, up 6.8% year-over-year from $1,098.6 million. Earnings per share declined to $0.10 from $0.18 in the prior year, whilst adjusted EPS remained flat at $0.26. The Montreal-based company generated free cash flow of $104.0 million and maintained a net debt-to-adjusted EBITDA ratio of 2.27x. Civil Aviation revenue rose 5.6% to $641.6 million, though profitability decreased. Defence and Security revenue increased 8.3% to $531.8 million with continued margin expansion. CAE's transformation plan progressed during the quarter, including a review of strategic alternatives for Flightscape and plans to close four to six Civil training centres. The company targets $125 million to $150 million in annual transformation run-rate savings by fiscal 2030. Management maintained its unchanged fiscal 2027 outlook.
