Research Senior Technician

The Department of Physics is seeking a Research Senior Technician to support ongoing research focused on chromatin dynamics and function. This position is part of a collaborative research team funded by an NIH R35 award and contributes to biochemical analyses and day-to-day lab operations. Responsibilities include working with DNA and protein samples using techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, chromatography, and protein purification; preparing and cataloging samples; maintaining lab equipment; and assisting students in lab procedures. The technician will collaborate with graduate students, may supervise undergraduate workers, and will participate in weekly lab meetings. The role may also offer opportunities to lead independent projects, contribute to manuscripts and grant proposals, and present at research conferences.

This is a term position available for one year with the possibility of renewal based on performance and availability of funds.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a life sciences discipline (must be conferred by the time of appointment)

• Experience in a biological or health sciences research setting

• Computer literacy and proficiency with standard scientific software

Desired Qualifications:

• Publications in peer-reviewed journals

• Knowledge of molecular biology and chromatin biology

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team

• Strong communication and organizational skills

• Familiarity with laboratory software and tools commonly used in biochemistry or biophysics research

Target hiring range - $19.28-$25.19*

*The offer for this position will fall within this range based on the final candidate's education, experience, and peer equity.
