  • Model and enforce Highline’s academic and behavioral expectations.
  • Serve in long-term substitute assignments for planned or unplanned leaves and unexpected employment vacancies as assigned.
  • Substitute for absent teachers on a day-to-day basis as needed.
  • Provide additional supervision, proctor assessments, and assist anywhere in the school as directed by the campus principal.
  • Collaborate with grade-level peers to provide rigorous and supportive curriculum for every student.
  • Assume all duties and roles assigned to the teacher being covered.
  • Enter grades into the school learning management system based on standards-aligned assessments.
  • Assign appropriate student work and classroom tasks to teaching assistants and provide guidance for working effectively with students.
  • Build positive relationships with students while maintaining high expectations.
  • Manage classes with positive, proactive systems and strong rituals and routines.
  • Seek information and support from staff members when students experience behavioral or academic difficulties.
  • Contribute to classroom newsletters about grade-level work.
  • Engage parents by inviting them to participate as volunteers or in classroom events.
  • Build relationships with families through phone calls and formal and informal meetings.
  • Work to ensure that all families attend student conferences held twice a year.
  • Participate in at least three evening or weekend events, such as grade-level music performances, the Cultural Fair, and the Fall Festival.
  • Attend all professional development assigned by the principal and participate with respect and attention.
Desired Qualifications
  • A teaching license is preferred.
  • A Bachelor's degree is highly preferred.
  • Bilingual applicants are highly encouraged.
