Requirements
  • At least 3 years of previous supply chain experience.
  • Flexible working hours are required because most facilities operate 24/7.
  • Experience managing third-party service providers.
  • Experience leading and influencing a team with common or shared goals, providing direction, and coaching for performance and development.
  • Proven strength in problem solving and advanced data and statistical analysis.
  • Strong training and mentoring skills with emphasis on team member development and engagement.
Responsibilities
  • Foster a safety-first culture through awareness, training, execution, and accountability.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment for drivers and team members entering the distribution center yard.
  • Oversee all yard functions and execution of third-party carrier operations.
  • Execute operational plans safely while keeping partner teams informed and coordinated across functions.
  • Identify root causes of problems and support calculated risk-taking and testing.
  • Oversee and support logistics yard operations at distribution centers serving stores through outbound loads.
  • Collaborate with Distribution Leadership, Carrier Partners, Assets Protection, Logistics Leaders, and headquarters teams to identify process gaps and drive optimization through tools and automation.
  • Act as a change agent to champion continuous improvement, maximize efficiencies, and support business goals.
  • Oversee the yard service provider, establish a working relationship, and hold the carrier accountable to its standard operating procedures.
  • Review yard driver schedules to ensure they meet operational requirements.
  • Review invoice submissions and reports for outliers, including fuel and weekly submissions.
  • Conduct routine business review meetings covering safety, driver staffing and scheduling, capacity, outstanding claims, yard truck status, wins and opportunities, and completion of countermeasures.
  • Work with yard and maintenance providers to review process issues in the yard.
  • Conduct routine yard rides with the provider, engage yard drivers in safety discussions, and note safety concerns.
  • Observe and report yard safety near misses and ensure they are entered daily by Yard Coordinators and the yard provider.
  • Conduct daily yard safety audits.
  • Ensure current and new safety standards are deployed and followed.
  • Ensure weekly route forecasts are entered into the trailer availability tool and that the report is sent daily by Yard Coordinators.
  • Review yard space and configure the Yard Management System to support operations.
  • Meet regularly with Yard Coordinators.
  • Attend contribution meetings to review Yard Coordinator team performance.
  • Conduct monthly development-status meetings with the Senior Logistics Manager.
  • Participate in weekly calls with Yard Operations Manager peers to align on network priorities.
  • Ensure appropriate Yard Coordinator staffing is in place.
  • Perform Senior Logistics Manager responsibilities as assigned.
  • Assist with escalations and event management as needed.

  • Experience in transportation load planning, yard management, or fleet management.
  • Experience working for a best-in-class, asset-based transportation provider.
