Position Open: Immediately
Title: Senior Assistant General Counsel
Salary Range: Up to $140,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Location of Work: Oklahoma City, OK
Position Summary:
The Oklahoma Office of the Attorney General (OAG) currently seeks a licensed attorney to work with the Office of General Counsel (OGC) team within the Executive Division. Collaboratively, the General Counsel team coordinates and oversees the office’s Attorney General Opinion process; the office’s Open Records Act program; anticompetitive reviews of state agency, board, or commission licensing actions; contracts between vendors or suppliers and the office; screening memos for potential or actual conflicts of interest; Opioid Abatement Board and oversight and management of the State’s grants and settlement funds from opioid manufacturers, distributors, and retailers; litigation holds when the office anticipates litigation or receives service of suit; provides counsel to the Attorney General and staff on request; and other tasks as assigned by the Attorney General.
Job duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
·Researching, writing, and editing, Attorney General Opinions
·Researching legal questions and providing timely advice, guidance, or analysis;
·Opining on the Open Meeting and Open Records Acts;
·Consulting and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the OAG’s ability to execute legal and legislative initiatives that address critical issues facing Oklahoma and its residents;
·Assisting in employment and labor law matters;
·Assisting in developing policies and best practices for the OAG;
·Collaborating with OGC and senior staff on internal administrative changes, litigation, and legislative and policy initiatives;
·Attending meetings on behalf of the OGC and the OAG;
·Reviewing and/or drafting contracts, procurement documents, agreements, and other written agency materials; and
·Other job duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
·Licensed to practice law in the State of Oklahoma with at least two (2) years of experience in the practice of law.
·Exhibit superior writing and oral communication skills;
·Demonstrate strong, efficient research and analytical skills;
·Excellent time management and organizational skills;
·Capable of working concurrently on multiple projects;
·Precision in attention to detail;
·Ability to work independently and collaboratively;and
·Commitment to being client-focused and responsive to the client.
Governmental and administrative law practice experience is strongly preferred.
