Position Overview
The Manager, Labor Relations is responsible for directly managing the Labor Relations Contract Administration, Setup, Advisory, and/or Audits teams and providing subject matter expertise to those teams and working with internal and external customers by interpreting collective bargaining agreements in the United States, and Canada and working with various teams across Cast & Crew’s verticals to administer and apply those agreements. The Manager, Labor Relations will have a high impact on operations, will work closely with all levels of the organization, and with studio/union experts to promote accurate and compliant operational practices.
Core Responsibilities
- Directly manage one to two teams providing individual guidance, support, and leadership to team members
- Address Labor Relations, reporting, and audit issues and escalations from clients (external and internal) and Business Agents
- Interpret and provide advice regarding the CBAs working with the Director and VP, Labor Relations when necessary to determine the interpretation that best aligns with the spirit and intent of the agreement
- Review and address any documentation from the AMPTP and/or other unions or guilds
- Contribute/assist with payroll contract set-up/ rules related to CBA terms and conditions
- Facilitate process compliance, standardization, continuous improvement, and best practices
- Carry out comprehensive training and on-boarding program and while identifying other cross-departmental opportunities
- Address escalated questions from the Labor Relations team and quality check contract setup and audits as needed
- Provide feedback on key performance metrics and monitor operational performance
- Analyze processes and procedures to make recommendations for system enhancements and process improvements to drive improved accuracy and efficiency
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients, agencies, and coworkers to promote quality service
- Other related duties as assigned
Key Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in Entertainment Industry
- 3+ years Pension, Health & Welfare Funds experience preferred
- Subject matter expertise regarding labor law areas applicable to entertainment payroll, including labor codes, wage and hour laws and employment laws and regulations.
- Proven leadership skills in providing clear direction, focus, and development of departments and teams
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years Pension, Health & Welfare Funds experience preferred
Special Work Conditions
- Sedentary – Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Some positions may entail exerting up to 15 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, or pull.
For National Pay Ranges
The compensation range for this position is $90,000 to $115,000 per year. Compensation is commensurate with various factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, skills, training, licensure, certifications, geographic cost of labor, and other business and organizational needs.
