Requirements
  • A current engineer license is required.
  • A Bachelor of Science or Master of Arts degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant field is required.
  • Proficiency in site layout, grading, utility design, erosion control, and regulatory approvals is required.
  • Knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics for preparing drainage reports is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required.
  • Proven working experience as a Project Engineer is required.
  • Familiarity with applicable rules, regulations, best practices, and performance standards is required.
  • Ability to work with multiple-discipline projects is required.
  • Decision-making ability, leadership skills, time-management skills, and organizational skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop complete site-design development projects involving grading, drainage, water retention, retaining walls, sewer and wastewater, roads and transportation, site layout, and utilities.
  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor assigned engineering projects.
  • Evaluate surveys, field notes, maps, aerial photographs, and other materials to identify project constraints and determine the best development approach.
  • Complete drainage calculations for storm sewer design, hydraulic systems, detention ponds, and water-quality measures.
  • Lead a design team in correcting redlines and completing plan revisions.
  • Research and review ordinances, technical reports, and municipal, state, and federal codes to ensure compliance.
  • Communicate with city, county, and state entities to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with project coordinators, other project engineers, and design staff to provide status updates, discuss challenges, and address plan revisions.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable codes, practices, quality-assurance and quality-control policies, performance standards, and specifications.
  • Coordinate with project coordinators to keep projects on track and communicate project status to clients.
  • Interact with clients to interpret their needs and requirements and represent them in the field.
  • Perform overall quality control of budgets, schedules, plans, and personnel performance, and report regularly on project status.
  • Assign responsibilities, mentor the project team, and liaise with stakeholders.
  • Manage, design, develop, create, and maintain small- to large-scale construction projects safely, on time, and sustainably.
  • Conduct on-site investigations and analyze maps, reports, tests, drawings, and other data.
  • Assess potential risks, materials, and costs.
  • Attend planning meetings as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least five years of relevant Civil 3D or computer-aided design experience is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of HEC-RAS is a plus.
