Requirements
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license for the state of employment.
  • Demonstrate excellent personal-computer competency and the ability to use mobile applications on handheld devices.
  • Be familiar with wiring diagrams, symbols, and electrical measurement.
  • Have experience with preventive and predictive maintenance procedures.
  • Have experience reading blueprints and schematics.

  • Have experience with the National Electrical Code and material-handling-equipment safety standards.

  • Safely navigate ladders and gangways and work from platforms and equipment at significant heights.
  • Work effectively in varied conditions, temperatures, and environments.
  • Stand or walk for up to 10–12 hours as needed.
  • Lift or move products or items weighing up to 49 pounds.
  • Follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment, including lockout/tagout and arc-flash procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the electrical and mechanical aspects of material-handling equipment, including conveyors, sortation systems, robotics, and automated storage and retrieval systems.
  • Control and adjust positioning accuracy and timing.
  • Control and adjust scanners, cameras, scales, and printer applicators.
  • Control, reset, repair, or replace adjustable components such as belts, chains, and cables, and wearing components such as guides, bearings, wheels, rollers, and pulleys.
  • Clean, lubricate, and calibrate equipment.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot relay logic, ladder diagrams, and control components, including photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives, tachometers, and encoders.
  • Troubleshoot programmable logic controller programs and components, including central processing units, backplanes, input/output boards, counters, modules, and devices.
  • Troubleshoot field buses such as ASI, Profibus, and DeviceNet, as well as Ethernet communications modules.
  • Configure and adjust programmable logic controller parameters and component setups.
  • Conduct maintenance and higher-level troubleshooting on robots.
  • Troubleshoot power distribution systems, branch circuits, lighting systems, transformers, and wiring methods and materials up to 480 volts.
  • Develop work plans with peer technicians for emergency repairs of critical assets.
  • Use handheld devices and asset-management mobile applications to create and close work orders with labor hours, downtime, problem/cause/remedy, and parts-used data.
  • Collaborate with maintenance technicians and building leaders to solve difficult problems and optimize material-handling equipment.
  • Validate the quality of work performed by outside specialty contractors.
  • Handle multiple maintenance projects and restore equipment to service quickly after breakdowns.
  • Perform root-cause analysis for equipment failures and correct systemic issues using observation and diagnostic tools.
  • Act as the technical subject-matter expert on the shift and train maintenance technicians and technician trainees.
  • Eliminate potential equipment safety hazards and help ensure a safe work environment.
  • Operate company-owned vehicles to perform maintenance activities outside the facility and in the trailer yard.
  • Travel to nearby facilities and local stores to procure parts and supplies as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Have a degree from a technical or community college, or accredited industrial-maintenance certifications in programmable logic controllers, industrial networks, machine logic, or robotics, with a focus in mechanical or electrical fields.
  • Have four or more years of experience in the mechanical or electrical maintenance field.
