• We are seeking for a highly-motivated scientist who will provide support for protein crystallography by generating the material necessary to solve the x-ray crystal structures and by carrying out crystallization and crystal optimization experiments to ensure high quality x-ray diffraction data.
• The ideal candidate will be motivated, detailed, goal-oriented and possess excellent analytical skills.
• Responsible for general laboratory and operational support.
• Including providing logistical support for samples and compounds management, ordering supplies and carrying out general bench work activities.
Responsibilities
• Primary responsibilities include protein purification and protein sample analysis using modern protein purification techniques such as affinity, size-exclusion and ion-exchange chromatography.
• Generation of high quality crystals using automated robotic technologies and hanging/sitting drop crystallization techniques.
• Previous experience in the above techniques is preferred, but on the job training can be provided.
Qualifications
Qualifications
• Minimum of B.A./B.S. with knowledge of molecular biology or protein biochemistry
• Effective bench scientist with experience in protein sample analysis and protein purification techniques
• Ideal to have experience in protein crystallization
• Ability to complete experiments with limited supervision and present results in group settings
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience with using Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
