Requirements
  • Completion of a college diploma in Event Management, Tourism Management, Communications, Marketing, Cultural Planning, or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience planning and delivering community-based festivals and events.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, administrative, and event planning skills.
  • A valid G Class driver's license with an acceptable driver's abstract, including no more than three driving-related convictions or three demerit points in the previous three years before the date of hire, and no administrative driver license suspensions.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver municipal events with a team from concept through post-event evaluation.
  • Manage multiple event portfolios simultaneously, prioritize workloads, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing operational requirements.
  • Serve as the primary contact for third-party event organizers and coordinate with City, Regional, and Provincial departments and agencies to secure approvals, permits, and clearances.
  • Ensure events comply with applicable municipal bylaws, provincial legislation, and organizational policies.
  • Review contracts and agreements with Legal Services and Risk Management and support resolution of contractual, operational, and compliance-related issues.
  • Collect and communicate post-event feedback from stakeholders and organizers, identify improvement opportunities, and contribute to Council reports.
  • Monitor event budgets in Workday, process invoices and payment requests, and ensure purchase-card verification requirements are met.
  • Support event marketing and communications by coordinating City website content updates and timely promotion of City-led events.
