Parts Authority acquires NPW, adding 46 Auto supply locations.

Parts Authority acquires NPW, adding 46 Auto supply locations. The deal marks a major geographic expansion into five new states for Parts Authority, one day after it announced the opening of a large Mississippi distribution hub. Automotive replacement parts distributor Parts Authority has acquired aftermarket supplies distributor NPW Companies, adding 46 locations and substantially expanding its geographic reach. Lake Success, NY-based Parts Authority announced the deal Aug. 11, saying the addition of Miami-based NPW brings its combined network to nearly 325 locations while taking the company into five new states. Founded in 1969, NPW is a family-owned distributor of traditional, engine and performance parts. Its catalog includes more than 1 million part numbers from more than 700 brands. NPW's leadership and employees will join Parts Authority as part of the transaction, with NPW President and CEO Chris Pacey continuing as President of NPW/EPW while also taking on a senior role with Parts Authority. "NPW's locations are a natural complement to our existing footprint, allowing us to put more inventory closer to the customers of both companies," Parts Authority CEO Clark Hale said. NPW operates 17 distribution centers and 29 retail locations across a broad U.S. footprint, with stores operating under the Bumper to Bumper, Auto Value and Johnny's Auto Parts brands. The acquisition announcement came one day after Parts Authority detailed another major network expansion. On Aug. 10, the company opened a 450,000-square-foot distribution facility in Olive Branch, MS, marking its entry into the state. Located outside Memphis, the facility is intended to serve as a major distribution hub, accelerate deliveries and provide capacity for additional geographic expansion. "It gives us the platform to accelerate delivery times today while opening the door to future geographic expansion," Hale said of the Mississippi facility. Parts Authority, founded in 1973, distributes automotive and truck parts to service centers, jobbers, fleets and national accounts, along with customers through its e-commerce channel. The company said it has acquired more than a dozen businesses as part of its expansion strategy in recent years. MDM analysis. For distributors serving the automotive aftermarket, the back-to-back moves show Parts Authority pursuing both density and reach - acquiring established customer relationships and inventory depth while adding capacity to accelerate regional fulfillment. That raises the service-level bar in a market where parts availability and delivery speed often matter more than price alone. Regional competitors should watch for pressure on delivery expectations, supplier leverage and account consolidation. Recommended Reading
