Requirements
  • A degree in building science, mechanical engineering, sustainability, or another related field, and/or industry certifications such as Certified Energy Manager, Building Performance Institute, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or other related credentials.
  • Previous experience in and knowledge of building science obtained through work in utility energy efficiency programs, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning design or installation, construction, or other related businesses.
  • A demonstrated aptitude for learning industry jargon and technical content and translating it into clear, concise, digestible information.
  • Previous experience in an advisory, educational, or customer service role providing advice or assistance to customers.
  • Familiarity with navigating government or utility incentive programs.
  • Previous experience working as a contractor or engaging with contractors.
  • Ability to travel to locations in Connecticut as needed; travel is expected at least weekly.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including one-to-one communication and presentations to groups.
  • A demonstrated aptitude for quickly learning and working with software such as Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and energy modeling tools.
  • A calm, even temperament suited to meeting people with different needs and backgrounds.
  • An adaptable, flexible, collaborative approach and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to proactively manage competing demands and changing schedules to complete tasks in a timely and diligent manner.
Responsibilities
  • Provide virtual consultations to residential customers considering decarbonization solutions, with a heavy focus on heat pumps.
  • Help homeowners understand the capabilities and limitations of heat pump technology based on their home attributes and system goals.
  • Help customers understand system pros and cons, sizing, design, and installation considerations to maximize benefits.
  • Use Abode’s proprietary quote review tool to consult virtually with residential customers to compare and evaluate equipment options for adopting heat pumps.
  • Engage with heat pump contractors, distributors, manufacturers, and customers virtually or in the field.
  • Provide contractors and industry participants with information about related programs and incentives and learn more about industry needs.
  • Manage a shared inbox and phone line for contractor inquiries and respond to and help resolve customer and contractor issues.
  • Conduct regular reviews of contractor certifications and follow up as needed to obtain renewed documents.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop new program tools.
  • Create and improve resources to meet evolving program needs and technology updates.
  • Stay current with recommended heat pump system design and installation standards and provide fact-based advice to homeowners and contractors.
  • Perform administrative duties, including answering phone calls, staffing program inboxes, and conducting data review.
Desired Qualifications
  • Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese as well as English.
