Responsibilities
  • Responsible for development of the project scope and fee quotation and assists in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
  • Serves as the primary client liaison and manages the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client’s satisfaction. Leads client contract scoping and negotiations.
  • Performs technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.
  • Implements the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Leads the development and the execution of the project management plan. Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives.
  • Responsible for/oversees project staffing, including, but not limited to; recruitment, development, retention and succession of project staff; development of plan for project staff reporting; and support for performance and compensation reviews.
  • Partners with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for mega and super mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Works with the project team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials. Leads proposal development and interview presentations for strategic, mini-mega or mega projects to the client as well as general presentations within the industry and community.
  • May be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development and retention of staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Former NJDOT Commissioner Francis O'Connor joins HNTB as senior vice president

HNTB has appointed Francis O'Connor, former commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Transportation, as senior vice president and business development director. O'Connor will focus on client relationships and strategic growth initiatives, particularly with transportation agencies and tolling programmes nationwide. O'Connor served as the 20th commissioner of NJDOT, leading one of America's most complex multimodal transportation systems. He also chaired NJ TRANSIT, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, South Jersey Transportation Authority and the Target Zero Commission. O'Connor began his transportation career as a toll collector with the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and later led electronic toll collection initiatives, including the launch of E-ZPass. At HNTB, he will leverage his agency leadership experience to advise clients on operational, political and strategic challenges.

OEG Sports & Entertainment and the city of Edmonton have chosen Dialog and HNTB as lead designers for the new Event Park, planned for the current Fan Park site beside Rogers Place in Edmonton's ICE District. The selection comes after an RFP attracted 19 qualified submissions. Dialog previously worked on the ICE District and Rogers Place, while HNTB has designed major venues across North America. The Event Park is envisioned as an indoor-outdoor destination directly connected to Rogers Place, with facilities for concerts, festivals, cultural gatherings and sporting events. OEG Sports & Entertainment president and COO Stu Ballantyne says the project will support downtown revitalization and strengthen Edmonton's reputation as a hub for sports, entertainment and community life. Dialog has previously contributed to the designs of the ICE District and Rogers Place, while HNTB has designed sports and entertainment venues across North America. The Event Park is conceived as an indoor-outdoor entertainment and community destination, connecting directly to Rogers Place. The project calls for expertise in acoustics, staging, sound and lighting for touring acts, headline performances, cultural gatherings, festivals and sporting events. Indeed, OEGSE promises it will be Alberta's premier multi-use event hub. Siemens on March 30 announced the appointment of Ann Fairchild as President and CEO of Siemens USA, the company's largest market globally. Fairchild, who has served as interim President and CEO since October 2025, will assume the permanent role effective immediately.
