Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent degree is required.
  • Five to seven years of experience with automotive high-speed data cables is required.
  • Good communication, time management, and interpersonal skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Attend and lead internal and customer meetings related to high-speed data cables, including coaxial, Ethernet, A2B, and USB cables.
  • Work with the internal design verification group to understand and establish required testing, and evaluate signal degradation caused by attenuation, reflections, crosstalk, skew, and discontinuities according to original equipment manufacturer specifications and test methods.
  • Support request-for-quotation activities involving high-speed communication data cables while considering manufacturing equipment and capabilities.
  • Work with the program team to define cable type, conductor size, shielding, insulation, and connector interfaces, and identify, track, and resolve open issues.
  • Understand the requirements of high-speed automotive communication systems and apply knowledge of Automotive Ethernet, including 100BASE-T1, 1000BASE-T1, and higher-speed Ethernet architectures, to support the Ethernet cable business.
  • Perform root-cause analysis of high-speed cable issues using laboratory measurement equipment and develop corrective and preventive actions.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for customers on high-speed automotive cable and interconnect applications.
  • Travel periodically to customer, original equipment manufacturer, Tier 1, manufacturing, and test locations as required.
  • Interface with internal Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems cross-functional groups, program managers, and division management.
