Requirements
  • A college degree or technical certification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Telecommunications, or a related discipline, or equivalent military or field experience.
  • At least 7 years of hands-on experience in telecommunications network engineering, circuit integration, or infrastructure planning.
  • Deep technical command of BGP, TCP/IP, MPLS, and IPv6 for telecommunications infrastructure supporting TDM-to-IP conversion.
  • Hands-on experience with optical networking, fiber, telecommunications network infrastructure hardware, server-level deployments, testing, validation, and acceptance.
  • Ability to model network growth and optimize capacity during large-scale system upgrades.
  • Experience with telecommunications infrastructure for ground networks and air-to-ground systems and technologies.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the integration, implementation, and testing of systems supporting the National Airspace System.
  • Provide technical direction to field teams and own assigned technical and project activities.
  • Manage technical activities throughout the network infrastructure lifecycle, from planning and site preparation through implementation and final deployment.
  • Direct migration of legacy Time Division Multiplexing circuits to IP-based infrastructure, including circuit activation, cutover coordination, troubleshooting, and performance testing.
  • Perform hands-on configuration, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of network infrastructure, protocols, servers, and related hardware.
  • Resolve complex technical issues encountered during deployments across multiple sites and geographic areas.
  • Use operational dashboards, key performance indicators, test results, and technical reports to evaluate network performance.
  • Verify that fiber and IP infrastructure meets reliability, availability, resilience, and performance requirements for mission-critical aviation services.
  • Analyze operational and technical data to identify trends, emerging issues, dependencies, and potential performance risks.
  • Develop and recommend corrective actions to maintain successful implementation and operational performance.
  • Develop and deliver status reports, dashboards, technical documentation, and briefings for project stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Communicate accomplishments, risks, technical issues, and recommended next steps to support timely decision-making.
  • Perform work primarily on-site at FAA facilities across the National Airspace System and at contractor or integrator facilities as required.
  • Travel regionally to FAA sites in support of surveys and installation.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience leading the technical integration side of large infrastructure initiatives and applying project management methodologies to ensure delivery, compliance, and mission alignment.
  • Working knowledge of cloud networking across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform to support hybrid National Airspace System environments.
  • Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent certification.
  • Familiarity with FAA BNATCS protocols or similar mission-critical government network standards.
