Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • At least one year of experience working with the population served is required.
  • A valid driver's license and personal vehicle insurance coverage are required as a condition of employment.
  • The employee must maintain proficiency in company-sponsored training, certifications, and privileging as required.
  • The employee must maintain CPR, First Aid, Med Tech, NCI, and other required core competency certifications and training.
  • The employee must be able to demonstrate CPR proficiency from floor level, including working on hands and knees, bending, standing, and lifting.
  • The employee must agree to a criminal record check, pre-employment drug screening, healthcare registry check, and motor vehicle registry check.
  • The employee must complete criminal background screening, registry checks, drug testing, education verification, position-based credentialing, and employment history or reference verification when required.
  • For transportation positions, proof of a driver's license, driver's insurance, and vehicle is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide support to people or groups with disabilities in residential and day settings.
  • Carry out Direct Support job responsibilities and lead by example.
  • Mentor, train, and coach Direct Support Employees.
  • Mentor new Direct Support Employees to ensure thorough training and demonstrated abilities.
  • Assist with ensuring staff coverage across all three shifts as scheduled or when scheduled staff cannot work.
  • Reside overnight at certain residences when required by the special schedule or work week.
  • Assist people receiving services in identifying and communicating their requests and needs for services and supports.
  • Implement services and supports addressing each person's goals and desired outcomes in their Person Centered Plan.
  • Pair new employees with the mentor for shadowing and ensure shift-specific shadowing is conducted.
  • Assist with training staff on other shifts and ensure staff in the home receive person-specific training.
  • Monitor active treatment and mealtimes, including possibly completing a monthly assessment.
  • Prepare grocery and supply lists.
  • Prepare for surveys and quality assurance reviews.
  • Conduct fire drills.
  • Train fill-in staff.
  • Monitor restrictions and ensure staff follow restrictions involving alarms, locked sharps, chemicals, and similar safeguards.
  • Complete personal property inventories and distinguish individuals' property from facility property.
  • Check that adaptive equipment for hygiene and mealtimes is present and functioning properly.
  • Ensure all plans for supported individuals are followed, including mealtime, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and oral hygiene plans.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred.
