Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
  • 5 - 7 Years of Related Professional Experience and 3 – 5 Years of Supervisory Experience. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in comprehensive financial aid administration, with emphasis on Title IV compliance in program fund awarding, verification, disbursement, accounting and reconciliation, and including development and implementation of compliance-driven policy, procedures, awarding, reporting and auditing.
  • Minimum 3 years as key leadership representative responsible for ensuring compliance with all current laws, regulations, and policies governing the federal student aid programs. Prefer experience with the establishment of appropriate university processes, controls, and direct interactions with auditors to discuss/defend observations.
Responsibilities
  • Provide compliance leadership for Title IV federal and state aid regulations and develop/direct policy and compliance processes for the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships and other campus areas related to federal financial aid compliance.
  • Collaborate with academic and support units in planning, developing, and coordinating compliance efforts including FERPA, advising leadership on compliance procedures and policies, educating/training UNLV community, and implementing policies when activities extend outside Nevada or into other countries.
  • Oversee compliance in areas including State authorization reciprocity agreements (SARA), online professional programs leading to licensure outside Nevada, field placements outside Nevada, and policies for online education to students in foreign countries; advise on potential regulatory changes and impact.
  • Lead internal audits on university procedures (Return to Title IV, Financial Aid Verification, Financial Aid Professional Judgement, Financial Value Transparency and Gainful Employment, Nevada Residency for Tuition Purposes, Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions decisions, program licensure disclosures and attestations, and FERPA) and review/approve reports to Federal and State entities (e.g., FISAP, NSHE Data Report)
  • Act as liaison with NSHE, NSHE agencies, UNLV School of Medicine, School of Dental Medicine, Boyd School of Law, Graduate College, HR, Philanthropy/Alumni Engagement, Athletics, and other entities to ensure compliant financial aid procedures across the organization.
  • Develop and deliver assessments and evaluations of office activities; build internal/external relationships to communicate compliance and regulations; provide education and training to units to improve compliance posture.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management and EM Leadership to set annual goals aligned with Top Tier initiatives, identify and track core metrics, and support enrollment growth and equitable access to resources; contribute to student success and timely graduation.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours including nights/weekends and travel domestically or internationally as needed; possession of a valid Nevada Driver’s License.
