Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • 1 - 3 years relevant work experience is required.
  • A valid Driver's License is required.
  • BOC certification and holding, or being eligible for Florida state licensure, is required.
  • Basic experience with MS Office, Sportsware, BIODEX or related systems.
Responsibilities
  • Provide primary evaluation of athletic injuries.
  • Formulate a clinical diagnosis by interpreting the signs and symptoms.
  • Refer injured athletes to appropriate physician.
  • Administer therapeutic exercises and modalities to treat injuries.
  • Educate athletes and coaches to prevent injuries.
  • Apply appropriate immediate and emergency care procedures and properly activate the Emergency Action Plan.
  • Maintain pre-participation physicals on file for all athletes.
  • Complete injury reports.
  • HIPAA compliant.
  • Maintain rehab tracking forms.
  • Knowledge of injury tracking software.
  • Approve Clinical Instructor for the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education accredited program.
  • Supervise students while performing injury evaluation, application of rehab protocols and modalities in accordance with CAATE and Board of Certification regulations.
  • Mentor students on injury evaluation, taping applications, rehab techniques, emergency care, injury pathologies.
  • Maintain current emergency action plan.
  • Educate individuals about appropriate use of equipment.
  • Monitor environmental conditions to facilitate safety.
  • Maintain up-to-date sport schedules to ensure appropriate medical coverage.
  • Attend regular staff meetings to ensure continuity of care and collaboration of injuries.
  • Articulate expectations and goals of students and graduate assistant athletic trainers.
  • Be able to adapt to an ever-changing schedule and maintain appropriate priorities.
  • Take initiative to better oneself as a clinician and to better the athletic training department.
  • Maintain open lines of communication and availability with coaches and administrators.
  • Enhance depth of knowledge by attending symposiums and continual learning over time and maintaining professional credentials.
