Requirements
  • PhD in Philosophy or Religious Studies or be a doctoral student who is ABD
  • capacity to teach the core introductory course Introduction to Philosophy and Religion
Responsibilities
  • Teach Philosophy and Religion courses including introductory courses, intermediate thematic surveys, and advanced topic seminars
  • Cover topics such as bioethics, philosophy of science, epistemology, non-Western philosophies and religions (especially Chinese traditions), and critical race theory
  • Demonstrate teaching excellence and versatility and ability to jump into an existing curriculum with creative and critical pedagogical approaches
  • Engage with the program's strengths in social justice and environmental philosophy and contribute to its curriculum
  • Assume adjunct duties on a course-by-course basis as needs arise
Desired Qualifications
  • Expertise in social justice and environmental philosophy
  • Experience with underrepresented philosophical and religious traditions including feminism, critical race theory, and non-Western worldviews
  • Ability to teach courses on non-Western philosophies and religions (especially Chinese traditions)
  • Experience teaching interdisciplinary topics at the intersection of science, technology, and ethics
  • Demonstrated evidence of teaching experience such as syllabi, teaching portfolios, or similar materials
