Requirements
- USA Payroll experience
- Maintain accounting/payroll designation or equivalent
- Post-secondary education in business or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in payroll processing and management
- Extensive knowledge of payroll functions
- Experience with payroll software and systems
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Detail-oriented with an aptitude for problem-solving
- Comfortable working in a startup style environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with a high degree of accuracy
- Excellent planning, organizing, multitasking and time management skills
- Strong computer skills, intermediate level or above for Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook
Responsibilities
- Oversee the processing of recurring payrolls
- Ensure accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings, and company deductions
- Ensure compliance with payroll laws and best practices
- Prepare and submit various payroll-related documents
- Supervise and mentor payroll staff
- Implement and maintain payroll best practices
- Work closely with People & Values and finance teams
- Address and resolve payroll-related queries or issues from employees
- Conduct regular payroll audits and reconcile payroll data for accuracy
- Support the month-end reporting process
- Attend professional development courses
- Look for efficiencies/implement better ways of working
- Support the Corporate Controller in preparing documentation for the annual financial statement audit
- Live and uphold the company’s core values
