Requirements
  • BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • Knowledge of State and Federal transportation design standards
  • WVDOH experience a plus
  • Engineering-in-Training Certification required
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in WV preferred
  • Experience with Bentley Microstation, Corridor Modeler, and Open Roads Designer (ORD)
  • Knowledge of civil engineering design and construction concepts preferred
  • Use of GIS applications such as ArcGIS or Google Earth a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to learn
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, project managers, supervisors, and other team members
Responsibilities
  • Work under the direct supervision of a licensed Transportation Project Manager on various projects throughout West Virginia
  • Produce high-quality plans, maps, and 3D models for clients
  • Collect data, perform existing condition and alternative analysis evaluation for engineering reports
  • Develop horizontal and vertical alignments, cross section and super-elevation design, roadside barrier design, ADA curb ramp design, roadway modeling
  • Provide design support for erosion and sediment control plans, stormwater management plans, right-of-way plans, utility relocation plans, permit application drawings, and traffic related plans
  • Create and submit technical reports, specifications, and design calculations
