July 21, 2026 10:07 Commercial Times, Du Huirong Cell therapy industry is moving towards a new era of AI smart manufacturing. Lega (6891) announced on the 21st that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Pegatron to introduce AI, digital twin and smart automation technologies into the cell manufacturing process, jointly building a "smart GMP cell factory" and upgrading cell CDMO services to IDMO (Intelligence Development and Manufacturing Organization), targeting opportunities in the global regenerative medicine supply chain. During the BIO Asia-Taiwan exhibition, representatives from biomedical industries, investment institutions, and industry-government-academia sectors from 13 countries visited Lega's Zhubei smart factory and witnessed the collaboration. Lega stated that this alliance demonstrates the achievements of cross-domain integration of Taiwan's ICT, AI and semiconductor technologies into biopharmaceuticals, and sets a new milestone for smart cell manufacturing. According to the collaboration, Pegatron will introduce its self-developed PEGAVERSE AI digital twin platform to establish a virtual-real integration model of the cell factory, connecting Lega's GMP-compliant production site. Through AI, IoT and digital twin technologies, process parameters and equipment operation data will be collected in real time to build a complete smart manufacturing system. In the future, both parties will also introduce robots into the physical plant to perform process operations. By collecting robot motion trajectories and various production data, they will be transmitted back to the digital twin platform in real time, forming a virtual-real synchronous smart factory management mode. AI algorithms will be used for process optimization and predictive management to improve production quality and efficiency. Lega said that IDMO is not just an upgrade of the CDMO model, but aims to establish a scalable and standardized cell therapy manufacturing platform through AI, big data and smart automation, helping clients shorten development time, reduce mass production costs, and improve product consistency to meet the rapidly growing global demand for cell therapy. Chairman Qiu Junrong said that since its establishment, Lega has been committed to building a cell manufacturing platform that meets international standards. The collaboration with Pegatron symbolizes that cell manufacturing has officially entered a new stage of intelligence, jointly defining the new standard of IDMO, and also represents that Taiwan's cell therapy industry is moving from traditional manual manufacturing to highly standardized, automated and scalable "chip-level intelligent mass production." Lega pointed out that it will continue to deepen its smart manufacturing layout, work with strategic partners to improve cell yield, reduce manufacturing costs, and accelerate the popularization of cell therapy. At the same time, with the Zhubei smart factory as the core, it will deploy the Asia-Pacific cell therapy supply chain and actively seize opportunities in the global regenerative medicine market.
