Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Teaching experience in a public or private school setting
  • Has held a license to teach
  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • At least 5 years of teaching experience in a public or private school setting
  • Supervisory experience in an education setting (e.g. as a principal, department chair, university supervisor, or as a previous mentor/cooperating teacher)
  • Experience in supervising or mentoring new teachers
  • Holds a current Colorado teaching license
Responsibilities
  • Assist alternative licensure candidates in meeting the requirements of the Colorado Teacher Quality Standards
  • Conduct a minimum of 5 school visits for each assigned alternative licensure candidate during each semester
  • Provide feedback on each lesson observed
  • Complete and submit observation reports for each observation
  • Evaluate alternative licensure candidate’s proficiency on Colorado Teacher Qualities Standards
  • Communicate with Alternative Licensure Instructor regarding candidate’s performance
  • Attend all required Alternative Licensure Program (ALP) meetings
  • Necessary Special Requirement: This position requires travel to and from teaching sites throughout the week. The final candidate must be able to perform this essential function of the job with or without accommodation.
  • Affiliate faculty duties may include but are not limited to: teaching assigned classes in person or online by delivering course content to students, preparing course materials and lesson plans, grading student work, providing students with robust feedback in a timely manner, addressing student questions consistent with university, college/school, and department policies, and providing online or in person academic support to students as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment; providing instruction in assigned classes consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and, if required, with department course coordination policies; and complying with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies. The ability to adapt and learn new modes of instruction is highly encouraged. Candidates need to be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
