Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent in education or a related field from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Teaching experience in a public or private school setting is required.
  • The candidate must have held a license to teach.
  • The candidate must be available five days per week during the day for lesson observations, debriefs, and meetings with alternative licensure teachers.
  • The candidate must be able to travel to and from teaching sites throughout the week, with or without accommodation.
  • Candidates must submit a curriculum vitae or resume, cover letter, copies of all unofficial transcripts, and a list of three professional references with contact information.
Responsibilities
  • Assist alternative licensure candidates in meeting the requirements of the Colorado Teacher Quality Standards.
  • Conduct a minimum of five school visits for each assigned alternative licensure candidate during each semester.
  • Provide feedback on each observed lesson.
  • Complete and submit observation reports for each observation.
  • Evaluate each alternative licensure candidate's proficiency on the Colorado Teacher Quality Standards.
  • Communicate with the Alternative Licensure Instructor regarding candidate performance.
  • Attend all required Alternative Licensure Program meetings.
  • Teach assigned classes in person or online by delivering course content to students.
  • Prepare course materials and lesson plans.
  • Grade student work and provide students with robust feedback in a timely manner.
  • Address student questions in accordance with university, college or school, and department policies.
  • Provide online or in-person academic support to students as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment.
  • Provide instruction consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and, when required, department course coordination policies.
  • Comply with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of teaching experience in a public or private school setting is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience in an education setting, such as experience as a principal, department chair, university supervisor, or previous mentor or cooperating teacher, is preferred.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring new teachers is preferred.
  • A current Colorado teaching license is preferred.
