Requirements
  • A Limited Master of Social Work license, a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor license, or a Temporary Limited Licensed Psychologist license issued by the State of Michigan is required, as determined by program requirements.
  • The program may require a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor certification through the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals, or placement on a Development Plan within 30 days of hire.
  • Heartsaver certification is required before the start date.
  • Previous mental health and/or substance abuse assessment and treatment experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties, is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and good computer skills are required.
  • The ability to work flexibly to meet client needs is required.
  • The ability to facilitate client and family groups is required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy treatment modalities is required.
  • The role requires frequent telephone and computer use, sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods, and may require bending, squatting, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • The essential functions must be accomplished with or without accommodations.
Responsibilities
  • Provide evidence-based individual, group, family, and/or couple therapy, including Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
  • Coordinate with community, referral, and funding sources to provide needed services.
  • Maintain timely clinical documentation that adheres to CARF, Community Mental Health, and agency standards.
  • Assess and diagnose psychopathology, including mental health and/or substance use disorders, according to the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual.
  • Create measurable treatment plans that follow evidence-based practices.
  • Provide interventions, safety planning, and/or referrals for patients in crisis situations.
  • Perform screenings, brief interventions, and referrals to treatment.
  • Maintain current service authorizations and complete utilization reviews required by funding sources.
  • Maintain agency productivity standards.
  • Work with Billing/Coding and Finance departments to resolve authorization or payment issues for patients.
  • Coordinate with internal and external primary care providers and psychiatrists to treat the psychosocial and medical aspects of behavioral health disorders.
  • Participate in case conferences and/or huddles.
  • Complete required training programs and share knowledge and skills with peers.
  • Prepare for and attend required supervision meetings.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation when required, including patient assessment and/or crisis intervention by phone or in person at a community facility.
  • Adhere to agency compliance standards, including the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keep current with applicable federal, state, and agency regulations, laws, and policies.
  • Provide individual therapy to students at Union High School Health Center.
  • Facilitate groups when assigned.

Cherry Health to offer free health screenings during National Health Center Week. Published July 30, 2026 at 2:26 PM EDT The clinic will be offering free vision and blood pressure screenings. National Health Center Week takes place August 2nd to August 8th .And in celebration of the week, Cherry Health will be offering free vision and blood pressure screenings along with education about its services on August 5th... During the event, Cherry Health team members will be on-site to share information about their integrated healthcare offerings, including primary care, behavioral health and more. Cherry Health's health insurance assistance team and community health workers will also be available to help schedule appointments and connect to community resources. Tasha Blackmon, president and CEO of Cherry Health, says, ""This year, we celebrate how health centers use innovation to reach more patients and improve outcomes." Cherry Health discloses data breach affecting patients and staff, scope still under review. News 23 Jun 2026 Cherry Health, formally known as Cherry Street Services Inc., has disclosed a data breach that may affect certain current or former patients as well as current or former staff members. The organization first detected the breach on or about April 19, 2026, and posted a preliminary notice on its website dated June 18, 2026. The total number of individuals affected has not yet been disclosed. Cherry Health stated that a comprehensive review of the data involved is still ongoing. According to the organization's notification, Cherry Health launched an investigation with the support of third-party specialists after detecting suspicious activity on its network, in order to determine the nature and scope of the activity. The organization said it promptly took measures to secure its environment. The investigation determined that certain information stored on Cherry Health's network was accessed and copied by an unauthorized individual. Cherry Health is now conducting a comprehensive review of the involved data, in partnership with third-party specialists, to determine exactly what information was at issue and to whom it relates. That review had not been completed at the time the notice was posted. The types of information that may have been exposed include names, addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, health insurance information, health insurance ID numbers, patient ID numbers, provider names, service dates, and Social Security numbers. The notification stated that the potentially impacted information varies by individual, with some people having had several of these data types exposed and others only one. Cherry Health said it takes the event and the security of the information in its care very seriously, and that it is working to implement additional safeguards to reduce the likelihood of a similar incident in the future, as part of its ongoing commitment to protecting privacy. The organization stated it presently has no evidence that any of the involved information has been used to commit identity theft or fraud. Cherry Health said it is nonetheless providing information about the event and resources to help individuals protect their information from possible misuse, and encouraged individuals to remain vigilant and take proactive steps to safeguard their personal information. Cherry Health said it will notify potentially affected individuals by written letter once its data review is finalized, with the website notice serving as a preliminary alert in the meantime. Once the review is complete, the letters will inform each person which specific types of their information were involved, and call center representatives will be available to answer questions once the letters are sent. The notification, which included detailed guidance on steps individuals can take to protect their personal information, was published in both English and Spanish. Individuals seeking more information about the incident may call 888-204-2407 or write to Cherry Health at 100 Cherry St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. The organization noted that the notice was not delayed by law enforcement.
