  • Graduation from an accredited school of Practical Nursing is required.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough patient health assessments and accurately record information, reporting unusual data promptly to the nursing supervisor or provider.
  • Assess and identify patient symptoms and problems and administer nursing care in compliance with the medical and nursing plan of care.
  • Deliver patient care and education addressing physiological, developmental, educational, learning-level, and environmental needs.
  • Administer medications through permitted methods, including oral and intramuscular administration, and obtain and handle specimens according to policy.
  • Follow infection-control guidelines and use personal protective equipment appropriately.
  • Assist providers with therapeutic and diagnostic procedures within the scope of practice.
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Educate families or caregivers on health promotion, safe environments, healthy lifestyles, risk-reducing behaviors, and age-specific care and safety.
  • Evaluate and document patient responses to treatments and interventions.
  • Deliver patient care while meeting quality-management expectations and using appropriate tools.
  • Complete documentation promptly, thoroughly, and accurately in compliance with departmental guidelines.
  • Interact and collaborate professionally with other providers involved in patient care and explain procedures and medications in an understandable manner.
  • Act as a patient advocate and assist families in developing advocacy skills for their child.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly clinical and patient-care environment.
  • Maintain clinical competencies through successful return demonstrations and completion of computer-based learning modules.
  • Share knowledge and skills with colleagues to support professional development.
  • Use hospital resources and time respectfully, accountably, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Record applicable patient charges accurately and promptly for appropriate billing of services.
  • Stock supplies and equipment proactively or as directed.
