Requirements
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in occupational health and safety consulting, advisory work, or senior in-house safety leadership.
  • Deep knowledge of Canadian occupational health and safety legislation, CSA standards, COR frameworks, and regulatory environments.
  • A proven track record leading high-stakes engagements, including Ministry of Labour inspections, WSIB matters, incident investigations, and enterprise audits.
  • Experience building, mentoring, and leading teams of safety professionals.
  • Demonstrated experience as a compelling trainer and public speaker.
  • Comfort operating at the executive and board level with customers.
  • Credibility earned through practical field experience.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and use them to enhance training, compliance, and operational performance.
  • A self-starter who takes initiative, identifies opportunities, and acts without supervision.
Responsibilities
  • Own and evolve the firm's intellectual position on workplace health and safety, including its beliefs, advocacy, and direction for customers.
  • Monitor legislative, regulatory, and industry shifts and translate them into firm positions, updated programs, and proactive customer guidance.
  • Identify emerging occupational health and safety issues and establish the firm as a voice in the field.
  • Serve as the senior technical authority on consulting engagements, including audits, program development, incident investigations, compliance reviews, and strategic safety advisory engagements.
  • Set standards for how consulting work is scoped, delivered, and quality-assured.
  • Lead complex customer engagements involving regulatory scrutiny, Ministry of Labour matters, WSIB, or enterprise-level safety transformation.
  • Build and mentor a team of consultants and trainers and establish a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
  • Serve as senior curriculum architect, ensuring training programs are technically accurate, legislatively current, pedagogically effective, and procedurally consistent.
  • Personally deliver keynote and flagship training programs to customers and industry audiences.
  • Oversee instructor quality assurance, evaluations, performance conversations, and development plans.
  • Identify and develop new training offerings for new sectors and customer needs.
  • Partner with leadership on business development, including proposal support, discovery conversations with senior customer stakeholders, and account expansion.
  • Develop scalable consulting and training offerings that strengthen competitive positioning.
  • Build long-term customer relationships.
  • Review and update occupational health and safety programs to maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Develop training materials, consulting deliverables, policies, procedures, and compliance documentation aligned with legislative and industry standards.
  • Lead, mentor, and coordinate health and safety professionals, consultants, and instructors.
  • Manage and develop internal staff, trainers, and the consultation team.
  • Ensure continued compliance and standardization of training and consultation programs.
  • Develop consistent service offerings that support growth and standardize operational procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • Professional designation of CRSP, CHSC, or equivalent; COR auditor and ISO 45001 auditor accreditation are assets.
  • Post-secondary specialization in occupational health and safety, environmental health and safety, engineering, or a related field is an asset.
  • Experience supporting customers in construction, industrial, transportation, utilities, or other higher-risk sectors.
  • Experience as a workplace trainer capable of delivering health and safety programs to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with safety management systems, COR-related requirements, contractor safety programs, and field-based compliance expectations.
  • Experience contributing to business growth through relationship management, proposal support, or account development.
  • Experience supporting the development of compliant workplace training programs or eLearning content.
