  • Deep proven expertise in export control and sanctions compliance, preferably with a focus on commercial or dual-use products
  • In-depth knowledge of the EAR, ITAR, and other equivalent or similar international export control regulations.
  • In-depth knowledge of the U.S. Department of Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations and laws, and other equivalent or similar international sanctions regulations.
  • Significant experience in drafting, developing and implementing export compliance programs, policies and procedures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Certification in export controls and/or sanctions compliance from a recognized certifying body is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Law, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with applicable international export control and sanctions regulations and laws, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) with regard to the U.S., and other equivalent or similar international laws and rules.
  • Monitor changes in applicable export control and sanctions regulations and laws that impact the company’s business and update internal policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Manage and oversee the licensing process for all relevant transactions.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain (i.e., update) export control and sanctions compliance policies and procedures, including export control and sanctions compliance manuals and guidelines.
  • Conduct regular training sessions for employees on export control and sanctions compliance requirements for commercial/dual-use products.
  • Develop supplemental training materials and resources to support company-wide compliance efforts.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to export control and sanctions compliance policies and procedures and applicable regulations and laws.
  • Identify potential compliance risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Manage internal investigations and corrective actions related to export control and sanctions violations.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of all export transactions and related documentation.
  • Work closely with legal, logistics, sales, and other company departments to ensure export control and sanctions compliance across the organization.
  • Provide guidance, counsel and support to company personnel on export control and sanctions compliance issues and commercial/dual-use product regulations and laws.
  • Classify products, software and technology according to applicable export control schedules and regulations.
  • Apply for and manage licenses for relevant transactions.
  • Liaise with government agencies, industry groups, and external auditors on matters related to export control and sanctions compliance, including with regard to audits and inspections.
