Requirements
  • Knowledge of testing piping systems, oxygen and acetylene cutting, basic rigging, pneumatic and electric tools, and leak-test tubing systems.
  • Ability to learn and follow safety hazards, requirements, and safe operation of work-related tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work in plant operations or construction jobsite settings.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, ISO field installations, material takeoffs, field sketches, specifications, plans, drawings, work instructions, company policies, safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and apply measurement, estimation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in active construction and project-site environments, including uneven terrain, mud, gravel, sand, outdoor weather conditions, confined spaces, restricted-access areas, and elevated locations.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, equipment, instruments, and materials associated with assigned duties.
  • Ability to lift, move, transport, position, push, pull, or carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to maintain situational awareness, concentration, and attention to detail while working amid distractions and changing priorities.
  • Ability to make timely decisions using sound judgment related to safety, quality, productivity, and project requirements.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work conditions, schedules, priorities, and operational demands.
Responsibilities
  • Inspect the quality of all work to ensure standards and specifications are met.
  • Assist pipefitter workers in their duties and resolve problems.
  • Interpret and enforce company policies and safety regulations.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, ISO field installations, material takeoffs, field sketches, and specifications.
  • Study specifications, plans, and drawings to determine required work aids and the sequence of installation.
  • Lay out pipe penetrations and equipment locations.
  • Fabricate and install screw pipe, socket weld pipe, stainless tubing, carbon steel weld pipe, and stainless steel weld pipe.
  • Miter and fabricate pipe.
  • Use a beveling machine to prepare pipes and tubes for welding.
  • Install piping of all sizes in pipe racks and underground applications.
  • Install valves, pipe hangers, and pipe supports.
  • Install steam and heat tracing.
  • Perform proper bolt-up of various sizes on pipe and valve flanges.
  • Assist other craft workers as needed.
  • Communicate and collaborate with crew members, supervisors, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and others in field and office settings.
