Requirements
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field
- 5+ years in spacecraft system design
- 8+ years general engineering experience
- Familiarity with EEE-INST-002 parts classification
- Proficiency in worst-case analysis, circuit Finite Element Analysis, and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Design and application of digital communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, RS-422, RS-232, CAN
- Power system design including Buck/Boost and LDO topologies
- Low-noise analog design for mixed sensor types
- Experience with high-voltage electrical systems and battery technologies used on spacecraft
- Execution of environmental tests as per standards such as MIL-STD-461 or GSFC-STD-7000
- IPC-JSTD-001 requirements for soldered electronic assemblies
- NASA 8739.4 harnessing standard and general requirements for harness design
- Motor drive design for Brushless DC (BLDC) motors
- FPGA- or MCU-based embedded system design
- Proficient in using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, electronic loads, and LCR meters
- Experience with Altium schematic capture and PCB layout tool or equivalent, and Microsoft Visio or similar tool
- Strong communication skills and experience presenting technical detail to external customers
- Detail-oriented with an emphasis on design documentation and summary report generation
- Experience as a people leader and mentor
Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical leader within the organization, mentoring junior engineers
- Systems requirements definition and analog and digital circuit design for autonomous spacecraft instruments
- Design, manufacturing, and checkout of custom high-reliability PCBs for various avionics applications
- Harness design and assembly instructions for high-reliability applications
- Electrical ground support equipment (EGSE) design and documentation
- Analysis and test planning, execution, and data review for verification of requirements for electrical systems
- Develop and generate work instruction packages for manufacturing and testing
- Support R&D and flight projects through all phases of development and delivery
- Proactively identify roadblocks to technical progress and take steps to mitigate them
- Provide subject matter expertise in flight avionics and electrical components
