Share "We continually innovate to provide window solutions that offer protection and performance without sacrificing style," said Debbie Bondonzi, PGT Brand Manager. "Seeing WinGuard Vinyl recognized in these two categories by The Construction Specifier readers demonstrates the desire among building design and construction professionals for windows that have been proven over time to serve as an important part of a secure building envelope, as well as a design element." MITER Brands launches Triton Advanced Impact Glass for PGT WinGuard Vinyl windows, 40% lighter than traditional impact glass

MITER Brands has expanded its Triton Advanced Glass Systems portfolio by adding Triton Advanced Impact Glass to PGT Windows and Doors' WinGuard Vinyl product line. The new glass system features Corning Enlighten Glass and meets Miami-Dade hurricane protection standards whilst being up to 40% lighter than traditional impact windows. The technology uses MITER Brands' proprietary Triton Glass Sandwich, which bonds micro-thin Corning Enlighten Glass to a shatter-resistant interlayer. This creates a lightweight, strong pane that reduces outside noise and offers improved energy performance. The reduced weight provides advantages for replacement and remodelling projects, requiring less labour to upgrade homes and commercial properties. The system offers three times greater indoor scratch resistance and exceptional clarity with virtually zero visual distortion.

MITER Brands' innovative Series 8630 Window Wall ranked among top five in Architizer A+ Product Awards.

MITER Brands' innovative Series 8630 Window Wall ranked among top five in Architizer A+ Product Awards. MITER Brands' Series 8630 Window Wall earns top recognition in Architizer A+ Product Awards. MITER Brands has achieved a significant milestone in architectural product innovation as Architizer Magazine recognized its newly rebranded Western Architectural Openings Series 8630 Window Wall as a finalist in the Windows & Skylights category of the prestigious 2026 Architizer A+ Product Awards. The recognition highlights the product's exceptional combination of innovative engineering, premium aesthetics, and high-performance glazing technology designed to meet the evolving needs of modern architecture. The Architizer A+ Awards are widely regarded as one of the world's most respected programs celebrating excellence in architecture, design, and building products. Bringing together leading architects, designers, manufacturers, and industry experts from around the globe, the annual awards recognize products that are shaping the future of the built environment through innovation, sustainability, performance, and design excellence. The Series 8630 Fixed Window/Window Wall was selected by an expert panel of industry judges to compete in the Popular Choice Awards, where architectural professionals and the public voted for the year's most innovative building products. The product earned recognition among the top five finalists in its category, underscoring its growing reputation within the architecture and construction industries. The Windows & Skylights category evaluates products based on several important criteria, including visual appeal, technical performance, durability, functionality, and their overall impact on architectural design. Products selected as finalists demonstrate the ability to enhance both the appearance and performance of modern buildings while supporting the creative vision of architects and designers. Kevin Vilhauer, Vice President of Product Engineering at MITER Brands, expressed pride in the company's achievement, describing the finalist recognition as an important validation of the team's ongoing commitment to excellence. According to Vilhauer, being selected as a finalist in the Architizer A+ Awards reflects the company's dedication to developing luxury architectural products that combine exceptional engineering with sophisticated design. He noted that the Series 8630 Window Wall represents Western Architectural Openings' commitment to delivering glazing systems that offer both outstanding performance and refined aesthetics. He explained that the product was specifically designed to blur the traditional boundaries between indoor and outdoor living environments. By maximizing natural light and creating expansive, uninterrupted views, the system helps architects create spaces that feel larger, brighter, and more closely connected to the surrounding landscape. The recognition comes shortly after the official launch of the Western Architectural Openings brand, formerly known as Western Window Systems. The rebranding reflects a broader strategic vision by MITER Brands to elevate the company's identity while reinforcing its position as a leader in premium architectural glazing solutions. The new brand was officially introduced during a special launch event held on June 24, where the company unveiled its refreshed identity and showcased its expanded portfolio of luxury window and moving glass wall systems. The updated branding emphasizes elevated design, architectural flexibility, and premium craftsmanship while maintaining the product quality and innovation that have defined the company for decades. Today, Western Architectural Openings operates as an important part of the MITER Brands portfolio, one of North America's leading manufacturers of residential and commercial building products. The company specializes in designing and manufacturing high-performance moving glass walls, windows, and custom glazing systems for luxury residential homes, commercial developments, and multifamily housing projects. The Series 8630 Fixed Window/Window Wall forms part of the company's highly regarded Vantage family of architectural products. The system has been engineered specifically to accommodate today's growing demand for larger expanses of glass that create stronger visual connections between interior and exterior environments. One of the product's most distinctive characteristics is its ability to support large-format glass openings while maintaining exceptionally narrow sightlines. This design approach allows architects to maximize natural daylight and create panoramic views without sacrificing structural integrity or performance. As contemporary architecture increasingly emphasizes openness, transparency, and seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces, products such as the Series 8630 have become essential tools for architects seeking to deliver modern, light-filled environments. The system supports individual glass panels measuring up to 50 square feet, enabling the creation of expansive glazed façades that were previously difficult to achieve with conventional window systems. These oversized panels reduce the need for multiple framing members, producing cleaner architectural lines and enhancing the overall visual impact of a building. Another key advantage of the Series 8630 is its compatibility with the company's Series 8000 operable window systems. This integration allows architects to combine fixed and operable glazing within the same project while maintaining consistent sightlines, profiles, and design aesthetics throughout the building envelope. This design continuity is particularly valuable for high-end residential properties, luxury hospitality developments, mixed-use projects, and commercial buildings where visual consistency plays an important role in the overall architectural expression. In addition to its structural performance and aesthetic appeal, the Series 8630 offers extensive design flexibility. Architects and designers can select from a wide variety of configurations to accommodate unique project requirements while preserving the clean, minimalist appearance that has become increasingly popular in contemporary architecture. The system is also available in multiple finish options, including durable anodized finishes and custom color selections, enabling greater freedom in matching project-specific design palettes and architectural styles. This level of customization allows the product to complement a wide range of residential and commercial applications while supporting unique design visions. Beyond aesthetics, the engineering behind the Series 8630 focuses on delivering long-term durability and reliable performance. High-quality glazing systems play an increasingly important role in improving building efficiency, occupant comfort, and environmental performance, particularly as building codes and sustainability standards continue to evolve. The product's combination of advanced engineering, premium materials, and flexible design capabilities makes it well suited for architects seeking glazing systems that balance visual elegance with functional performance. Recognition through the Architizer A+ Product Awards further reinforces MITER Brands' position as a leader in architectural innovation. The company's continued investment in research, engineering, and product development reflects its commitment to supporting architects, builders, and developers with solutions that address the changing demands of modern construction. As the architecture and construction industries increasingly embrace larger glass openings, integrated indoor-outdoor living, and high-performance building envelopes, products such as the Western Architectural Openings Series 8630 Window Wall are expected to play an increasingly significant role in shaping future residential and commercial developments. The recognition from the 2026 Architizer A+ Awards not only celebrates the engineering excellence of the Series 8630 but also highlights MITER Brands' broader vision of delivering innovative architectural solutions that combine luxury, performance, and design flexibility. By earning a place among the competition's top finalists, the Series 8630 Window Wall demonstrates its ability to meet the highest standards of modern architecture while providing architects with a versatile solution for creating visually striking and highly functional spaces.

MITER Brands' Tacoma facility receives safety certification.

MITER Brands' Tacoma facility receives safety certification. * Helen Petersen * Jun 10, 2026 Updated 2 hrs ago MITER Brands, which operates several window and door brands, recently announced that its MILGARD Windows and Doors manufacturing facility in Tacoma - as well as its Western Window Systems in Phoenix - has received a Voluntary Protection Program Certification from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Earlier this year, both facilities achieved the VPP Star - the program's highest level of recognition - which signifies that the manufacturers have demonstrated exemplary achievement in preventing and controlling occupational hazards, as well as in developing, implementing, and improving safety and health-management systems, according to a press release. "This is an incredible achievement for our team and encapsulates our commitment to workplace safety," said Mike Troutman, vice president of environmental health and safety excellence, in a release. "Our ongoing goal is to continue reducing injuries at all our locations. At our current VPP sites, injury rates are typically half the industry average as we advance on our journey toward safety excellence, with a long-term goal of no one getting hurt. Having two more locations VPP Star-certified, in addition to the other five that already gained certification, speaks volumes about safety as our first quality pillar." In the evaluation process for the VPP, in addition to reviewing policies and procedures on site, OSHA representatives interviewed 20-50% of the workplace population at each location to determine whether MITER Brands team members understood the company's safety programs and training, and to confirm they were being implemented. "For our team members, when they see OSHA walking around, it really solidifies that we care and that we're actively trying to do the right thing when it comes to their safety and welfare," said Tony Kassab, MITER Brands' vice president of human resources, in the release. "It takes on a new atmosphere in the plant, and it really helps with our overall company culture and morale." MITER Brands has several additional safety initiatives in effect across its facilities, including, per the release: * "Stop the Bleed" advanced training that focuses on equipping team members with the skills to control severe bleeding in emergency situations. * Incorporating an Industrial Hygiene Plan that studies and samples the environment to ensure team members work in a healthy and non-impacting environment. * Reducing lifting by up to 50% through manufacturing line redesign, mechanical lifts, or process changes. * Standardizing Personal Protective Equipment for all manufacturing facilities by implementing guidelines for its selection, use, and maintenance. * Focusing on ergonomics and piloting a study with Certified Environmental Management Ltd. in Sacramento and sharing those learnings with the EHS Team. * Auditing production equipment to be above OSHA standards to protect team members. * Providing 10 hours of OSHA regulatory training with leaders in MITER Brands' facilities to help them better understand a safe environment.

"This is an incredible achievement for our team and encapsulates our commitment to workplace safety," said Mike Troutman, Vice President of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Excellence for MITER Brands. Share Earlier this year, both MILGARD Windows and Doors and Western Window Systems achieved VPP Star - the highest level of recognition within the program. This recognition signifies that the manufacturers have demonstrated exemplary achievement in preventing and controlling occupational safety and health hazards, as well as in developing, implementing, and continuously improving their safety and health management systems. Fewer than half of one percent of all workplace locations in the country are VPP Star certified. "This is an incredible achievement for our team and encapsulates our commitment to workplace safety," said Mike Troutman, Vice President of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Excellence for MITER Brands. "Our ongoing goal is to continue reducing injuries at all our locations. Having two more locations VPP Star-certified, in addition to the other five that already gained certification, speaks volumes about safety as our first quality pillar." Founded in 1982, the VPP was established to promote effective worksite-based safety and health. Within the VPP, management, labor, and OSHA establish cooperative relationships at workplaces that have implemented a comprehensive safety and health management system. The VPP encourages companies to apply at no charge. OSHA will then review the application before performing a rigorous, weeklong on-site evaluation by a team of safety and health experts.
