Responsibilities
  • Procures, receives, and administers the inventory of controlled pharmaceuticals, and communicates shortages of medications or changes in stock availability to appropriate pharmacy staff.
  • Alerts leadership of changes in buying trends, including any unusual use of drugs.
  • Purchases all pharmaceuticals for the assigned pharmacies and participates in continuous quality improvement.
  • Receives and verifies shipments from vendors and suppliers.
  • Keeps abreast of contract changes and prepares vendor shipment returns.
  • Maintains appropriate inventory levels of drugs and supplies and controls inventory to meet established budgetary constraints.
  • Coordinates disposal of all expired medication and maintains invoicing for all drug and supply accounts.
  • Prepares department for annual inventory which includes updating shelf labels, inventory supply forms, and databases.
  • Carries out rules and regulations pertaining to the professional policies of the department and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
