Requirements
  • At least 3 years of professional experience developing Java-based applications and systems.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Java-based enterprise applications using Java, Java Enterprise Edition, React, and related technologies.
  • Build clean, maintainable, scalable, and testable backend and frontend components.
  • Design and implement application features based on approved business and technical requirements.
  • Develop and integrate RESTful web services to support communication between frontend applications, backend services, and external systems.
  • Create and maintain React-based user interfaces that meet functional, usability, accessibility, and performance requirements.
  • Work with relational databases and SQL to support data access, application functionality, data validation, and issue investigation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new features, improve existing functionality, clarify requirements, and manage dependencies.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure that code follows approved engineering standards, design principles, security practices, and documentation requirements.
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve application defects and technical issues within agreed timelines.

  • Debug application issues, validate fixes, optimize SQL and application performance, and support testing, deployment, and production activities.
  • Maintain source code, technical documentation, test evidence, and implementation deliverables while making development decisions within approved architecture, security, and coding standards.

All three acquisitions were completed in 2024, roughly doubling Synechron's presence in the Australian market. Sister companies Chamonix IT and Exposé focused on digital solutions and data engineering, while Melbourne-based iGreenData specialised in cloud and data. With the three firms now fully integrated into Synechron, the consulting and technology group has a team of more than 1,500 professionals working from offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and Canberra. Appian and Synechron launch Open Underwriting Stack for AI-powered insurance modernisation

Appian and Synechron have launched the Open Underwriting Stack, a joint reference architecture designed to help insurance carriers modernise underwriting through AI process automation. The architecture combines Synechron's InsureMESH data platform with Appian's process orchestration and AI agents. The stack enables carriers to process transactions across legacy systems, modern applications, and external data sources without replacing existing infrastructure. It features three connected layers: InsureMESH's data-first platform, Appian's automation and AI agents, and a configurable application layer. The solution was demonstrated at InsurTech Insights New York. The architecture aims to address industry pressure to modernise whilst maintaining auditability and underwriter control. Carriers can continue using existing core systems whilst adding an operational AI layer that runs in parallel, shortening traditional deployment cycles.
