Requirements
  • Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred; RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing program within two years and successfully obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required.
  • One year of Gastrointestinal endoscopy experience (GI experience) preferred.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification, either through American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers or an AHA recognized equivalent, or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
  • Physical and mental ability requirements including ability to stand, sit, walk, climb stairs, work indoors and outdoors in temperature extremes, work in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds, and other listed physical requirements; ability to work rotating shifts and overtime; ability to work in a latex safe environment; adequate vision and hearing; acceptable tactile function.
Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the nursing process; deliver safe and effective care and interact with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.
  • Assist with general endoscopy procedures, such as colonoscopy and esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD).
  • Be on call rotation for emergent and urgent therapeutic endoscopy procedures, including holidays, nights, some weekends, and call.
  • Perform instrument inspection, decontamination and disinfection of endoscopes and instruments in compliance with medical center policies and procedures, and state, local and federal requirements.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Nursing degree (BSN) preferred.
  • One year of Gastrointestinal (GI) experience preferred.
