Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate patient flow through the unit, including coordinating admissions with admitting personnel, nursing staff, and the admission facilitator.
  • Assist providers and ensure the availability of needed supplies.
  • Obtain and communicate information for requested tests and procedures.
  • Coordinate the registration process for established protocols.
  • Answer patient call lights in a timely manner and respond within the scope of the role according to call-light standards of practice.
  • Greet and direct patients, families, visitors, and staff; identify yourself and provide informative, non-clinical information when requested.
  • Use available information systems supporting unit operations, including provider order entry, bed tracking, and the nursing call system, while ensuring timely responses and accurate data input.
  • Serve as a point person for resolving information-system issues.
  • Maintain basic competency in troubleshooting printer, copier, and fax issues.
  • Ensure patients are properly charged for equipment, supplies, and outside purchases.
  • Coordinate special purchases for patient-care needs, such as specialty beds.
  • Ensure unit equipment is adequately maintained and maintain equipment logs.
  • Perform and monitor activities related to The Joint Commission (JCAHO).
  • Manage the unit-based patient valuables program, investigate lost belongings, maintain tracking logs, provide detailed summaries as requested, and report unresolved losses to the Operations Coordinator.
  • Partner with nurses and other care-team members to support efficient unit operations.
  • Serve as a liaison among patients, families, visitors, and clinicians and facilitate timely, accurate communication throughout the unit.
Desired Qualifications

Beth Israel Lahey Health rolls out Heidi's AI scribing to all physicians after 90% report better patient presence

Beth Israel Lahey Health is rolling out Heidi's ambient AI scribing tool to all its physicians following a successful trial across its facilities. The health system, which serves over 6,000 providers across 14 hospitals and 175 primary care practices, prioritises addressing physician burnout, with nearly half of US physicians reporting burnout. During a six-month trial offering Heidi to 1,000 providers, the majority adopted the technology. Survey results showed 89% were satisfied with note quality, 90% felt more present with patients, 74% reduced after-hours work time, and 82% experienced reduced cognitive load during visits. The implementation demonstrates how ambient AI can deliver immediate relief to physicians whilst benefiting patients and the healthcare system. Heidi supports over 2 million consultations weekly globally and has raised $96.6 million from investors including Point72 Private Investments and Blackbird.
