Requirements
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, hardware validation, product test, or manufacturing test engineering.
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals, including power distribution networks, signal integrity, power integrity, timing margins, voltage regulation, high-speed digital buses, and analog front-end behavior.
  • Hands-on experience with high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, digital multimeters, programmable power supplies, electronic loads, and active or differential probes.
  • Experience evaluating electrical blocks such as buck/boost converters, power management integrated circuits, low-dropout regulators, microcontrollers, field-programmable gate arrays, PCIe, USB, Ethernet, MIPI, I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN.
  • Experience developing automated tests or lab scripts, preferably in Python or a similar language, including PyVISA or SCPI.
  • Ability to define test matrices, pass/fail limits, compliance matrices, and validation reports.
  • Experience debugging complex PCBAs and hardware systems from prototype bring-up through production-intent builds and manufacturing ramp.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced hardware development environment.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute board-level electrical validation plans and characterization procedures for complex PCBA prototypes, engineering builds, and production-intent hardware.
  • Characterize electrical performance across voltage rail tolerances, load transients, power efficiency, temperature, configuration, and operating modes.
  • Perform systematic hardware debugging and root-cause analysis for power supply ripple/noise, signal integrity jitter, cross-talk, ground bounce, thermal throttling, unexpected reset events, and analog/digital noise coupling.
  • Build power budgets and compliance matrices, and summarize measured electrical behavior against product-level requirements.
  • Develop, validate, and optimize manufacturing electrical test flows, including boundary scan, functional test, calibration, limits, guard-bands, and pass/fail criteria.
  • Support EVT, DVT, PVT, pilot builds, and manufacturing ramp through yield analysis and issue resolution.
  • Partner with contract manufacturers and operations teams to improve test coverage, cycle time, repeatability, and troubleshooting efficiency.
  • Create factory-facing test documentation, board debug guides, and summaries for recurring hardware issues.
  • Automate electrical measurements across laboratory and production test setups using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, programmable DC power supplies, electronic loads, digital multimeters, waveform generators, active/differential/current probes, and thermal cameras.
  • Build test matrices, collect structured datasets, and analyze trends across units, builds, conditions, and configurations.
  • Use statistical methods to set limits, identify outliers, distinguish measurement artifacts from real failures, and improve yield.
  • Correlate bench measurements with automated test results and production data between engineering and manufacturing.
  • Work with board layout/hardware design, power electronics, firmware, validation, NPI, operations, and manufacturing partners.
  • Provide feedback on DFM, DFT, test point access, bed-of-nails fixture strategy, and hardware debug visibility.
  • Communicate electrical findings in clear, actionable summaries for technical and non-specialist audiences.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with signal integrity test methods, bus compliance testing, power rail impedance measurements, or loop-stability analysis.
  • Experience with high-volume manufacturing test, ICT, JTAG/boundary scan, test fixture bring-up, yield dashboards, or production data pipelines.
  • Experience supporting EVT, DVT, PVT, pilot builds, and mass production with contract manufacturers or factory teams.
  • Experience evaluating power supply transient response, ripple rejection, clock jitter, timing setup/hold margins, and thermal dissipation.
  • Experience with DFM/DFT reviews for electrical hardware, including test point layout, decoupling strategies, grounding, and fixture repeatability.
  • Ability to debug across electrical, analog, digital, mixed-signal, firmware, and test software boundaries.

Tacit builds an AI-powered digital twin platform for building operations that connects to a building’s existing infrastructure—HVAC, BMS, meters, and IoT sensors—to unify data. Its Agentic AI uses context-aware agents to diagnose, troubleshoot, and autonomously adjust systems, reducing the need for manual intervention and addressing issues like HVAC faults. It provides root-cause analysis, predicts equipment degradation, and continuously optimizes energy use in real time based on occupancy and weather, with audit trails ensuring transparency. The goal is to automate a significant portion of building issues to lower operating expenses, reduce energy waste, and free facilities teams for more strategic work.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • March 2026 Haatch-led funding supports commercial rollout across the UK and Greece.
  • Tacit reported 10-30% energy savings and 10-100x faster diagnostics in pilots.
  • London hiring for sales and machine learning roles signals active go-to-market expansion.

What critics are saying

  • March 2026's €300k round leaves Tacit undercapitalized for long enterprise sales cycles.
  • Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls, and Siemens own incumbent BMS relationships and distribution.
  • A failed 2026–2027 rollout across UK portfolios kills Tacit before repeatable revenue emerges.

What makes Tacit unique

  • Tacit's UCL research base and Greek founders anchor rare building-operations AI credibility.
  • March 2026 pilots cut UCL building energy 18% and saved £270k annually.
  • Tacit agents diagnose HVAC faults autonomously, with audit trails for every action.
