Requirements
  • Ph.D. in a related field completed by the date of appointment
  • Strong analytical background and field experience
  • Ability to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Track record of publishing outstanding peer-reviewed scholarship is expected; excellence in teaching, advising and mentoring of students
  • Willingness to engage in service and leadership activities within the school, college, and university and professional societies
Responsibilities
  • Teach two undergraduate courses annually, one in the area of forest ecology and one upper-level Capstone course that supports and strengthens the cross-college Environment and Sustainability undergraduate major
  • Develop and teach one graduate seminar every other year
  • Develop and lead an internationally recognized, externally funded interdisciplinary research program related to the forest community and/or forest ecosystem function
  • Engage in research, teaching, advising, and student engagement; include a field methods component
  • Publish in peer-reviewed scholarship; obtain external funding; contribute to service within school, college, university, and professional societies
  • Utilize local on- and off-campus forest lands for program research and teaching, including the Cornell Natural Areas and Arnot Teaching and Research Forest
  • Relocate to within commuting distance of Ithaca, NY; relocation may be provided
