Internship Overview

What It’s Like Interning with Us!
Weekly Events— just because the internship is remote, doesn’t mean we don’t have time for fun! Last summer, we hosted an Actian tie-dye shirt event, tiny camp fire—complete with smores(!!!), a murder mystery party, and so much more Time with Executives— Interns all get a chance to connect with our executive team through panel discussions, 1:1s, Q&A meetings, and events Workshops & Tech Tuesday’s— Interns all participate in Tech Tuesday’s where they get to learn more about Actian specific technologies, as well as workshops geared towards new professionals Opportunity to travel – we will be hosting a hybrid orientation! For those that are interested in being in person for orientation, we will fly you to our Austin, TX office.
Position Overview
Come join us Actian’s Zen Engineering Team! The Zen family of databases are ideally suited to applications that run in branch offices or on edge devices where zero administration and small footprint requirements are common. For the capstone project, the Software Developer Intern will build a smart building demo. This Intern will use continue smart building demo as example and build an enhanced version of the demo.
Capstone Overview
The Zen Software Developer Intern will be responsible for integrating Actian Zen as the edge database to store data for machine learning applications. This includes generating simulation data for machine learning purposes and developing a user-friendly GUI for building operation and a dashboard for presenting data. This intern will partner with the Zen Hardware Developer Intern who will be focused on creating the physical demo building.
Responsibilities
- Programming in python to simulate Zen CRUD operations
- Generate simulation data
- Create GUI and data dashboard
- Stretch goal is to add automation of these functional features
Nice to Have
- Pursuing Computer Science or Electrical Engineering degree
- Experience in or knowledge of machine learning algorithms
- Experience in or knowledge of database concepts
Requirements
- Must be actively enrolled in a college degree program
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
