Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • At least 7 years of experience in facilities engineering, design, construction, operations, or maintenance within semiconductor manufacturing or other complex high-tech industrial environments.
  • Strong technical knowledge of industrial mechanical systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, exhaust and abatement systems, vacuum systems, process cooling systems, and central utilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multifunctional projects, manage multiple priorities, and communicate effectively with technical and business partners.
  • Experience using data analytics, digital tools, and artificial intelligence-enabled technologies to improve engineering efficiency, decision-making, and operational performance.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the planning, design, construction, and commissioning of mechanical systems for U.S. Greenfield fabrication projects, ensuring safe, cost-effective, and high-quality project execution.
  • Develop and review engineering designs, specifications, standards, and procedures for mechanical systems including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, exhaust and abatement systems, vacuum systems, process chilled water, natural gas, and central utility systems.
  • Collaborate with global, regional, and site partners across Facilities, Manufacturing, Construction, Procurement, Information Technology, Operations, and external partners to achieve project objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance for design reviews, construction activities, change management processes, and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Support capacity planning, infrastructure assessments, and scenario modeling to ensure facilities systems meet current and future manufacturing requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance system performance, reliability, energy efficiency, sustainability, and total cost of ownership.
  • Serve as a mechanical systems authority, providing technical guidance, problem-solving support, benchmarking, and lessons learned across the global network.
  • Contribute to global facilities programs, sustainability initiatives, and the development of standards, specifications, and Best Known Methods to promote consistency and operational excellence.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering subject area.
  • Experience supporting Greenfield semiconductor fabrication development or large-scale industrial infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of sustainability programs, environmental design principles, and energy optimization strategies.
  • Familiarity with global engineering standards, reliability programs, and facilities operational standard processes.
  • A Professional Engineer license or equivalent industry certification.

Micron CEO says AI demand for memory outpaces supply by 50%, unveils $10B research centre

Micron Technology CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said data-center customers are seeking about 50% more memory supply than the company can currently commit to, driven by AI-related demand. He cited growing needs from autonomous vehicles, robotics and AI-enabled consumer products. The comments came as Micron launched a US research centre in Boise, Idaho, backed by a planned $10 billion investment over the next decade. The facility will focus on advanced memory, computing architectures, packaging and semiconductor manufacturing. Micron has outlined more than $250 billion in planned US manufacturing and research spending. Micron shares climbed nearly 4% on Thursday. The company reported revenue growth of nearly 167% year over year.

Micron to invest $10B in AI memory research lab in Boise over next decade

Micron Technology announced plans to invest $10 billion over the next decade in a new research laboratory in Boise, Idaho, focused on advancing memory technologies and supporting future chip manufacturing. Micron, PDD Holdings, and Adobe trade at bargain valuations — but risks remain
